Monk to Level 4 (Open Hand) + 1 Warlock + Monk to Level 6 2 Attacks (Monk) + 2 (Flurry) doing +2d6 (Hex and Manifestation) each hit and Trip with Advantage (Hex) More Monk, Rogue (Thief) or Warlock (Tome) would all be good choices to finish it nicely.

If ya ask me arch fey is really good if your a spell and control focus'd backline attacker as at level 6, to my understanding whenever you get hit you go invis and than can use misty step as an action and especially if you have fiendish vigor which can act as a full heal if the hit only did 7 dmg and still act similar to a partial heal if its more and devilish sight plus the free darkness cat you get from like a drows racial passives plus devilish sight would make killing you or even just hitting you difficult especially if you go 6 Warnock and 6 evocation wizard for potent cantrips with your spells fully dedicated to control and illusion magic.....

Hell add in the free haste cast too and that gives ya the ability to take a hit that especially if its only 7 will mean nothing before invising and than tping to a different location before getting to use haste to get another action allowibg you to heal with fiendish vigor or blast whoever attacked you with eldritch blast which if you maxed out what it can do with 20 chr, agonizing blast, and the other blast budf than that would be pretty nutty...

If you choose to go pact of the blade don’t worry about weapon proficiency. Once you bind it you gain proficiency. Fiend-blade-greatsword has been my favorite playthrough so far

Bard companion pairs really well with Warlock. Having a third short rest(Song of Rest) is amazing for any class that recharges their main abilities on short rest(like warlock, monk and moon/spore druid).

You can see in magical darkness with that invocation. Lets you do some cheeky stuff with the Darkness spell. Drow and Asmodeus Tieflings get to cast that spell once per long rest saving you a spell slot.

@@joshc1081 Yeah it creates blackness which blinds, not darkness. Something I hope they change in the next D&D. Seems silly to have a see through magical darkness ability than have a signature spell that seems like darkness but isn't.

If you want to maximize eldritch blast damage, here are a couple additional notes: - Potent Robe lets you add your cha to every cantrip you cast (so to every beam with EB) - Currently, Lightning Charges are bugged, and Agonizing Blast is added to them again - Draconic Sorcerers can add their cha every time you deal (lightning) damage - haste gives you 6 attack, and quicken with sorcery points 9 So you will deal, with a good to hit roll, unlike great weapon master builds etc: 9*(1d10+5+1d6+5+1+5+5)=270 damage. Without spending any spell slots, for just 3 Sorcery Points and a haste potion

@@ardasoydan9394 Currently, there is a bug, that treats lightning charges as if they were additional beams. So agonizing blast is added, so it is +6 per beam, not +1. The lightning charges add +1 lightning damage, and draconic sorcerers can add +5 elemental damage, whenever they deal damage of their element, in this case lightning. So you can add another +5 to every beam, because the +1 counts as lightning damage

in order to be eldritch blast machine all you need is two level dip into lock. You grab : Blast and two invocations for it and hex as a spell, then you can go on your merry way to other class. I suggest sorc quickneded blasts are cool or bard if you want more skill monkey.

What people don't talk about much is Eldritch sight works against the darkness spell so you can completely blind your opponent while being obscured yourself

Sorlock is really awesome. You sacrifice all spell points to sorcerer points so that you can cast 4 eld blasts every turn. At lv 7+ you can add Fireball and when you have a big grp of enemies you can cast 2 fireballs the same turn for complete annihilation

@@Andrei-Rex sorc has Sorc Points to buff spells (+range/use secondary action instead of action/cast same spell on 2 enemies/etc). You can sacrifice spell points to gain more Sorc Points. As Warlock this means you can cast Eldrich Blast twice the same round AND since the blast can target up to 3 ennemies thats 6 eldrich blasts each round. If you face a big party (which is often the case in act 3) you can also cast fireball twice per round (it melts everything). You can look for Sorlock build guides its one of the most fun classes (Eldrich blast throws enemies back)

Hex kinda falls off the further you get. You could be using thet concentration slot for cloud of daggers. I still use it on small fights. But cloud of daggers totally outperforms it especially since you can replelling blast people into it

@@sscr1p7 It has it's uses, but it takes up your concentration slot which in many cases can be used for more powerful spells. 1-2d6 on a single target, vs a whole bunch of damage, and area control for multiple turns. I'm not saying never use it, I'm just saying, you have more powerful options in the mid-late game.

Lae'zel, hands down. She had the most character development, her romance was good, and with the githyanki only items she obtains she ends up becoming an absurdly good fighter easily racking up hundreds of damage a turn. Fantastic character.

Playing a Pact of the Blade Warlock, it’s pretty fun, probably my favorite class. I was able to get that flaming sword off that devil commander at the beginning of the game so I just use that as my pact weapon lol

2 lvl of fighter with pct of the blade make an awasome melee/magic build. If you take the polearm feat you can use your bonus action to hit a second time with the bottom of your weapon maken you proc hex 2 times every turn.

Should wait on Agonizing blast until you get to pick for the second time. It doesn't add much at the beginning anyway. I'd substitute it for Devil's sight at the beginning with repelling blast. I just find this more handy. Especially if you start with goth for medium armor right away. That way, you can see in the dark and magical darkness at 5he start. This is just my opinion, though.

Githyanki best race for most things, medium armor proficiency, some weapons, and most importantly, astral knowledge. This way you dont have to take ANY Chr skills, then you use Astral knowledge each day to know them ALL. Maximize that CHR stat you're building with the warlock, and wear medium armor while you do it.

Yeah I am always torn between Gith and Human. Gith has all the amazing features and proficiencies (and racial spells) but human has access to shield proficiencies. Which I have found to be extremely useful with itemization. That being said, this character is just a blast bot, with no desire to get close. If I was going blade I wouldn't even hesitate to pick Gith and go Polearm Master haha

btw, dueragar is the best warlock race, enlarge for free, infinite invis, and dwarf powers are so good (and you get weapon prophecies that really help for some weapons that are awesome for pure caster). and as a final note, ALWAYS hex strength, it makes it easier to push and throw enemies that are hexed

Why go 17 CHA when you only bonus on even scores? Wouldn’t it be better to spread out your even abilities to get those bonuses and get ASI a couple of levels to get to 18 later? I would think that wasting a point in creation would make early levels harder than they have to be.

more cha, means more dmg. simple as that. also the fastest way to get to 20 cha after you pick the feat to +2 cha. then you can get the item from the hag that gives +1 cha = 20 Cha at act 1.

i love warlocks, ive played them in TTRPG settings, and other DnD electronic games. However in BG3 here is my problem: at level 5 (all 5 levels warlock) and with Auntie Ethel's Boon, my charisma is 20. i am also a tiefling, but that's irrelevant. My spell DC is 15 and my spell attack is 8. You'd think that 8 is high enough to get a decent percentage of successful attacks on mobs, even simple ones like gnolls and goblins in Act I. But no...I only hit at most 4 out of 10 times, I am consistently missing. Compared to someone like Astarion, with an 18 dex and a 7 to ranged attack, who almost always hits (7/8 out of 10 times). I am not sure why the game reacts so differently between spell attacks and weapons attacks, but it is incredibly annoying to be in a 5-10 rd fight and if I'm lucky I will hit with my warlock 1-2 times the entire fight. Spell casting seems fairly consistent with other casters; e.g. if i cast darkness and with a DC of 15, mobs don't normally save (Act I).

I always wonder why folks take 17 in their main stat especially ones that a feat wont add 1 to it. Charisma should be taken down to 16 , use those two points somewhere else because you will just add two to it at level 4 and then once more to 20 at 8th or 12th, leaving you with a decent feat somewhere along the line.

People always joke about "just eldrich blast" as Warlock, but how does that not get boring over the course of a hundred hour game? Warlock is the first class I considered because as someone who mostly played black decks in MTG I've always preferred the more creepy classes. But nothing I've seen of Warlock(or Necromancer while we're at it) suggests that either will provide that playstyle.

It gives you a lot of dialogue options and you will still end up concentrating on a variety of spells while you blast. Repelling blast also gives you a ranged push that is a lot of fun to abuse in the game. Pushing them off cliffs or into persistent damage spells etc.

you can long rest as much as you want, there are only a few time sensitive quests in the game. you'll miss a lot of companion quest triggers if you don't long rest enough.

How can you NOT talk about equipment? Locks are by far the worst caster by themselves until you get into multiclassing it with a Sorc or Paladin. And especially when you get into using some straight broken synergies and possibly bugs that make a freakn cantrip (Eldritch Blast) outshine level 6 spells.
