i am a radiant EU player who climbed from a placement of bronze to diamond solo quing, instalocking reyna and being mostly guardian only. speaking on EU ranks for a second, there isnt very many ranks where you can feel a tangible difference, but for EU, ascendant is one such rank, which is why i stopped instalocking reyna and going guardian only in diamond, i had aim crutched my way to a rank i knew i deserved, but my other weaknesses became apparent. that is the situation this player finds himself in. Generally speaking, between diamond and ascendant is where most people will be stuck if they are lacking in awareness. his gunfights look good, but his awareness of what he is exposed to is not that of an ascendant player, at 2:50 he is exposed to both angles when there is no need to be, he also let his yoru fight alone. an easier to explain example would be defending A site of haven, if there are two players, you either both go short or both go long, you would not leave your friend to die long whilst you hold short, youre giving the enemies two easy kills where at worst (most of the time) you will get one and get traded, leaving your team in a 3v3 retake, which is going to be incredibly difficult depending on which two roles died for free on A. going back to this specific example, he should have held on short for his yoru to peek off of contact, this way they are much more likely to get more than just their 1s. then again at 3:35, he was going to stay or even go for more, his team had to tell him to get back. especially around diamond or ascendant, it should be textbook for you to get out if you get an opening pick, valorant is a game of abilities and numbers, if you get a free pick, get out, play numbers, this is textbook play and he didnt know it i am a radiant duelist who flexes to omen, even amongst radiants, i have good aim. you can only get so far playing all aim no brain, frankly an ascendant in plat should be capable of getting himself to diamond at least, if youre an ascendant player unable to turn the tides in a plat lobby youre just bad he has a long way to go until he is deserving of ascendant, but thankfully all of the things he does do wrong are things you could fix within a week.
