I think those old EMDs could get a rebuild, unknown for those older GEs though and no they are not going to other continents across the world, they will stay on class 2s and 3s here in the us.

@@RAtheGoodRailfanner_888 Africa just bought a whole bunch of ex CP SD40-2s and a few dash 8s....from what I hear they are still shipping....Brasil bought 84 percent of the Dash7 fleets and tons of CP and KCS SD40-2s as well as SD40T-2 models SD45-2s and SD45s. Colombia just got 15 ex UP dash 8s...may I ask how do you know? Locomotive storage and rebuilding is available to everyone around the world...

@@RAtheGoodRailfanner_888 were do you get your info from? Africa has been buying SD40-2 and dash8s from America. Brasil bought 100s of C30-7models as well as sd40-2, SD40T-2s, SD45-2s and Sd40Rs from America...I bet you dollars to beef jerky most of those SD40-2s are scheduled for a boat ride.

When CSX first bought Pan Am Railways they sent 20 or so units from Waycross up to Waterville, Maine. 18 of the 20 Im told are out of service. Instead of sitiing in Waycross their now sitting in Waterville. Wonder if CSX will send any more north. I think this story defines the meaning of 'dead line.' 🦹
