INSANE Desert drive in our 1976 VW kombi

Hey everyone, I have a massive video to put together for our drive to Ushuaia. So in the meantime, I thought we'd reshare this video of us taking Ruby to the Tatacoa Desert. Watching this back was particularly hard for me, especially the walk at the end with Aimee and Lizzy. I still miss her so much 💔

It sure is. We recently arrived in Ushuaia, the end of the world! Next year, Ruby will be celebrating her 50th birthday, but that doesn't stop her driving up active volcanoes and 5000m above sea level across Bolivia's altiplano 😁

The naming of your car/bus/van is absolutely wild… I’ve had mine for 30+ years and it’s just my van! Love it just as much as if I had named it!!!

Ruby actually had her name when we bought her. They named her Ruby as originally her colour was more Ruby red. We painted her slightly darker, but felt like it would be wrong to change the colour too and we definitely couldn't change her name 😂

Oh my days those roads! Well not really roads but wasn’t Ruby a trooper - I’ll never complain again about pot holes 🤣🤣! Those tunnels too - I couldn’t do it. Added bonus of a swimming pool on the way! The scenery was incredible and what wonderful memories of Lizzie- thank you for sharing again.

The roads in Colombia are insane anyway, but the ones in the desert can be next level. Thankfully it hadn't rained too much before we got there. It was a beautiful experience. The views, the canyon and the pool. A lovely walk with our girls that I will cherish forever ❤️

Tatacoa was an amazing place to explore, still one of our trip highlights. This was the first time I had rewatched the video since uploading it on our old channel. The walk with Lizzy breaks my heart 💔 I will go through it again tomorrow and write up all the songs 😊 Steve did great. He's been used a lot on our drive down to Ushuaia. I have a lot of videos to get through 😢😂

No worries. The Tatacoa Desert is a remarkable place. It's still one of our top highlights of the trip. Just wish we could have seen more stars, it was a little wet and cloudy when we visited

We sure do 😬 It's one of the reasons we can't really be too upset when we end up in garage fixing her 😂 Yeah our audio was a struggle for a while. Our laptop speakers were broken and so I was using some cheaper headphones. Hopefully our ones since returning from England have been better 🙏
