I wonder if you could mount a seat sort of hanging down floating inside the wheel… awesome build man!

actually that's a pretty fantastic idea... and then you could give rickshaw rides. Lol. Thank you for the build kudos.

Thank you. With 700ish subscribers this is not a big channel. All of these builds are done with relatively basic tools and recorded on a old Samsung phone, and try to make the best with what's available. I appreciate your viewing and kind words. Cheers.

Nice build! impressed that you can actually balance on it since you can't manually pedal it.

Thank you. It is definitely not a easy bike to ride, and very difficult at slow speeds.

A real work of art well done. Mate just the aesthetics alone are amazing with the ability to actually ride it a huge bonus. Great build. 😎👍

I think you need to change the fork geometry in the big wheel, and/or place the foot rests farther forward. Cool project.

Apologies ... you appear to have made an entire video about making the wooden wheel - I will now go and have a look at that ...

No worries. I hope you enjoy the video.

Kia ora from NZ, do you have the templates or plans avialbale for sale anywhere? My home town is called the Steampunk capital of NZ and hists the annual NZ Penny Farthing Championships. This design is a reall eye catcher and could be quite a talking piece. Keen as to build one!

Thanks. That is really cool. I don't have a cut dimensions list for this build. But, I did do a video on the frame, wheel, and electronics. With that collection of info, it can be duplicated. The front wheel is by far the hardest part to build. Glad to have inspired you to build it.

The magic is in the wheel - the big one. There appears to be no video on how it was made, how it is supported etc. Sad that you skipped that - I have seen a hundred videos of metal welding etc. No videos on a wheel like yours ... So how did you make it. What design decisions? What tests? It appears to have worked straight away - was that a fluke? What are the little rubber wheels? Where did you get them? Have they got roller bearings inside them? Etc etc etc ... !

Hi George, thank you for your questions. On a build like this, I have roughly 45hrs of video that I cut down into a 20-30min watchable length. Unfortunately, a lot of details won't fit in that time frame. As I edit a video, I have to make a judgment call as to what I think people will want to see. Sometimes I get it wrong, sometimes right. If there is a bunch of content on a particular aspect, such as the wheel or electrical components, I try to break that off in its own video. As for the initial concept or design, I start off in pencil sketches and work out the appearance before jumping into CAD. Then in CAD, I model out and design the full build so I can see how parts will work in relation to the others. When I'm confident with the CAD model working, I start building. Those little wheels are actually turned down from a bar of Nylon to fit the profile of the wood wheel. They also do have bearings and spacers pressed in to reduce friction. Those first 3 test drive attempts, were the actual first 3 attempts. It wasn't perfect, I did fall once, there are definitely things I would change or modify if i ever built it again. But as a proof of concept, It did work. I appreciate your inquiry. - Cheers

The wheels should be made identical and a motor-wheel should be installed on the rear instead of a chain drive🧐
