Allen is a "tough" fighter, goes thru wars.. but he's not as exciting.. ppl have been complaining about the matchups a lot in recent years, begging for the above ranked vs below ranked to climb for a titleshot method again. But if we're being honest, a blend of that and exciting match ups would do better. We don't have a lot of exciting and elite fighters in each division right now and the UFC knows that and are also trying to sell ppvs. It is what it is. I'd rather see Caio vs a top 5 for a title shot at this point.

Caio definitely isn't up next up for DDP, but I don't think he'd be an easy fight for him, even if he fought him next. His striking looks pretty good, he's sharp, uses a good jab, has a ground game and now he's been through a war, which is great for his experience. Showed he can go hard in the 5th after a dogfight. And of course with time, he'll be even better.

I think calling out the champ is a solid call out. Not only is he 5th in the rankings now but a win over Jared is VERY telling of a solid future. There aren’t many people ahead of him and he’s 1 SOLID fight away from a fight for the belt. They’ll probably give him loser of Ddp and Sean and then it’s up from there.

100% legitimacy is a hug problem in the ufc these days. You can’t beat a guy on a losing streak and go strait to a title shot in a division with 3 guys who are already in line for a shot. Make Strickland fight him. Or have him as back up for khamzat vs rob.

Dude the canvas in that fight was like an ice rink, both dudes were slipping around everywhere it was wild. My take aways were that it sucks for jared that he hurt his lead leg forcing him to go southpaw, which he does not have good defense from, and in addition that he hurt his left arm or hand and would barely throw it. Being forced southpaw with a bum leg and arm is a rough outcome. Caio looked great, as he has, he's light on his feet, big, and like you said that jab was snappy and those kicks were great. However he does have the same defensive flaw luke rockhold did, his lead hand goes down to his hip in the defense and he doesn't pitch his lead shoulder up....leaving him open on his rightside.

Agreed, he absolutely fumbled the callout. Dude got a decision (closer than the scorecards; I had it 48-47) against a 40-year-old Cannonier. The idea that he should get a title shot is delusional -- lack of awareness of the moment that he's in. He needs at least one more win against a top-5 opponent. Imavov is basically in the exact same position - someone who got their rank by picking on the weak link in the top 5. Both of them need to beat Strickland, Whittaker, Israel - or for goodness sake, at least Vettori! Or run Imavov vs Borralho and see which of the young guys is left standing.

Jared too slow and too few combos when in range.......he looks predictable and able to be timed. He was never going t get in range with 1-2s he needed to string 3-4 shot combos to get in and when he was inside he didn't make the most of his opportunity. He frustrates the hell out of me because he gives to much respect to the opposition and gets caught looking at times.
