When I heard this song for the first time, the time signature threw me for a loop so much that I had to laugh a little inside because I thought I'd finally found a song that I didn't like out of all the Japanese bands I'd heard up to that point. Battle Against Damnation EP is fantastic. 4 songs (The Crusade, Break the Wall, Above the Black Sea and Under the Red Sky) together make the story about bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the second world war. And if you listen in order and check out the lyrics (which are amazing too) you ll get the complete picture. They really did it amazing and played it amazing live too

There are only two types of LOVEBITES songs: those that hit you in the face immediately, and those that grow on you to become favorites. :) This one grew on me. It is somewhat unusual in its "architecture", I find songs written by Miho (alone, or with Mao) always carry the stamp of individuality and even more emotional identification with the subject than usual. This one is, for the lack of a better word, unsettling. As the theme demands - while the best part is probably the Doomy episode, also quite rare in their catalogue thus far, coming with that breakdown in the middle, and Asami treating us to some looow vocals that are plain "underworldly" and chilling in combination with the drum hits that fall like bombs... Mind-boggling that they had this song on their VERY FIRST EP. The critics and listeners alike were quick to take notice. The legend was being born, and not hatching, but springing fully formed like Athena from Zeus's head in that Mythos!

Love how it punches you in the face when the guitars kick in. Then Asami hits that high note, it reminds me of Halford and Judas Priest, so epic! 🤘🐺🤘
