Yeah man, great stuff! My kids would have LOVED to get into crappie like that. Of course, I think my frying pan would helped out that stunted fish situation going on there. We used to fish Lake Volga in Iowa that had a similar situation for many years. It was nothing to go out there with a Roostertail and catch over 50 a trip, but you'd be lucky if a few went 8". We had some killer fish fries with the friends and family though!

In Nebraska, there is no size limit on Crappie (unless your fishing at Branched Oaks, Sherman Reservoir or Czechland Lake) only a bag limit. So you could have kept them for sure, and I agree many of the lakes here in Omaha are overpopulated with crappie, so they don't really get above 12-13 inches at maximum. Most I've caught are in the 10-11 inch category.

Have you or anyone else ever fished NE Oklahoma, preferably around the Tulsa area lakes and Ft Gibson? I'm having some trouble finding the slabs this year...dont have access to a boat

TheRiffingFatboy take a bit of patience but if your looking for catfish there are some real big ones in the Caney River this depends on how much water Copan and Hulah are letting out. Lot of sand bass in that area caught nice crappie at the fishing dock at Copan Point. Lot of catfish in Copan too blue cat is great eating about 5 lbs and under.

TheRiffingFatboy all the fishing I did was NOT using a boat and all from the bank rig up a slide cork fish in winter about 5-6 ft usually and in summer around docks from 2 10 ft

I've catfished most of my life and I've gotten really bored with them...catching catfish just doesnt excite me anymore I feel like they're too easy. Drop some shad on the bottom of the lake just about anywhere and you'll probably hook up a decent catfish. I'm really wanting to focus on bass and crappie this year. Really appreciate all the information sir! I lived next to Fort Gibson most of my life and thats where I did a lot of my fishing for catfish. I've caught about 5 decent bass and lost an absolute slaunch on a jump that had to have been at least 6lbs so far this year and a ton of bluegills and green sunfish but I haven't found the solid productive bass and crappie holes yet. Keystone, Oologah, Ft. Gibson and Skiatook lakes are closest

Took my baby girl, 3.5yo, fishing this am, eleven second attention span but she got a bream on a little piece of Slim Jim ( Thanks Catfish and Carp).
