Hello, I'm a groomer and I love your content. Furminators are carding knives with a different handle so they can market it as a new product for people that don't know but its just a regular carding tool, similar to a stripping knife. The problem is that they advertise it as being great for all coats when carding is actually a very aggressive method that should be used for like harsh hand stripped terrier coats or debulking coat where damage doesnt matter, like legs or short haired dogs. They cut into the top coat and it can take dogs up to several years or never for those hairs to grow back because they're on a different cycle of growth from the undercoat, which goes through growth cycles multiple times a year. It looks like Juicebox has been shaved before so you can see what I'm talking about, his undercoat grows back but his guard hairs don't. A dogs guard hairs might only have 2-5 growth cycles in his lifetime because they arent supposed to go anywhere. My point is that furminators are trash tools and will tear up the young dogs coats and eventually make the coat harder to manage as they age.

I felt that sigh in the beginning. I have two puppies that are going through training and have slight aggression towards each other.

1:21 I love your shirt!!! We train 2 to 3 times a day, my new Malinois is reactive towards people and we're working on it hardcore, no shades of grey. I'm retired and have all the time in the world too!

Thanks! I have a few videos working through reactivity on here, I wonder if you've had a chance to check them out and if they've been in any way helpful?

@@ericandcaprithepup I definitely will because there is always something to be learned from everyone. I have found introductions in a neutral area with handshakes between people, food rewards given by the new person and verbal praise is working, but she barks at people until the introduction. She needs to build confidence. You can tell that she wants to trust humans but is very fearful in some cases, she has a three bite history from fear biting. She is fearful of the muzzle and the Halti, so lots of desensitization must happen before she wears either. She totally lacks confidence.

Bonjour Éric ! Your commitment is a source of inspiration (but your health comes first 💚) I've been through so much of your content these past three days, and it's been giving me such a drive to move forward, although sick too 🤒 Thx for being so generous with your time and energy. When a Patreon ? Get well ! Salut de Paris !

What do you do if your dog waits until you turn the corner to break the command? Cause my did😂
@ericandcaprithepup Жыл бұрын
Great question! I set up the situation using one of my security cameras. The goal is for them to really feel like you have eyes everywhere even when you're not physically present. I've been able to fix trash bandits, and counter surfers just by setting up the camera, leaving some stuff in the trash or on the kitchen counter, and walking outside. As soon as they get anywhere near, BOOM, I magically appear, and I really only had to do this for one day, and now, my personal dogs (well let's say Capri, to be honest) don't go anywhere near any plates. So I would suggest applying that to your DOWN - Get an extra eye! Look out for next week's video, I'll try to demonstrate this for you!

I have a beagle mix and I need some creative help. I’m a deputy dog warden at my local shelter so I have some dog knowledge but not as much as you with training. I took home my dog because she’s reactive to people and other dogs to the point that in the wrong hands, it would lead to a not so good ending more than likely. She’s great with her ‘bed’ command, will stay till released. And will stay for hrs. But if I am in eye sight she will whine and howl. How can I break her of that ‘hey, I’m here, let me free’ habit. I ignore her, treat her when she stops. We work daily but she’s always singing and I know that daily I’m doing something wrong because she’s caught on to so many other commands easily. What am I missing??? Please help by giving a suggestion or two

I mean you can still put cushion in the crate for them, just put a cover over it like a duvet cover for a quilt and wash it when the time comes?
@Tommy-i6b Жыл бұрын
You do you :) If you have time and resource, but can't you see the man is already very busy 🥵
@ericandcaprithepup Жыл бұрын
The cushion is earned. I sometimes have 9 dogs at a time, so for me, it's a game of efficiency. If my dog can sleep on the floor next to me comfortably, then they can sleep in the crate without cushions just as well, however these are other peoples dogs with behavioral issues and part of the board and train is not allowing them to practice destructive behaviors so we always start with the bare necessities and then when the dogs prove themselves, we start adding luxuries and giving more freedoms and privileges. Thanks for the comment!
