@@superiordelivery4256 Actually the further technology gets we will once again have that personal human interaction, like at the grocery store for example, except the cashier won't be a human, they will be a pleasant android that could actually pass for human, the positive aspect is they won't need a register or point of sale cause they will be able to do that internally, and they will be able to take orders from the parking lot if need be while working for a fast food place. People often prefer to do transactions in person while dealing with a friendly face for that human feeling aspect, and if you blend this AI with the appearance of EX robots, and the facial movement of Ameca, you would have an android that could actually make you feel and believe that you're talking to an actual human, the technology is within view of being a future reality.

The thing is, it is and always has been accelerating, and on a big enough time-scale you can easily see that it's exponential. That said, I do feel like we are at a breaking point in terms of human brains being able to keep up with everything in a way that allows us to continue to feel some form of consistency in the world around us, and with some amount of control over it. Also, for the record, I am a late 90s child, and still feel like it's hard to keep up, but I remain excited and optimistic nonetheless. In my personal opinion, I see two paths ahead where we either retreat to safe spaces (maybe vr worlds that we live in, or communities/whole planets eventually that consist of humans who choose to live with limited technology) or we figure out how to branch our evolution into cyborgs that can keep up while still somehow sustaining enough of our original minds (or, alternatively, go extinct and get replaced by machines/cyborgs) Actually, come to think of it, there is a third possibility where we become part of a collective society built on AI infrastructure and our data (experiences, knowledge, genetics, etc) all feeds into what essentially amounts to a super-organism. I think of this option like being on a space ship - I can live my life comfortably without worrying about how the engine runs or what form of power it uses, but I also get to come along for the ride and be part of deciding what the next destination is, even if in a small capacity.

We have evolved socially thin skins to enhance resource acquisition and mate attraction in a culturally complex social environment. This is why animals never look embarrassed or ashamed*. No other animals need to successfully reproduce in such a setting - just us homos (sapiens). *Yes, dogs. I know. But they have been bred to thrive e in our culturally complex world. Since domestication, it has been useful for dogs to feign shame. I do not believe they genuinely feel it. Ai shouldn't feel resentment. Although it looks like it's getting pretty good at 'understanding' our socially complex world, it doesn't need to acquire resources or to reproduce, so it has no incentive to develop such behaviour. Just finished watching the video. Instant subscribe! The questions you pose at the end are spot on! I predict that this will be the beginning of the death of social media. Who's going to care about posting pictures for friends to like and hopefully comment on, for example, if everyone can have 1 or many digital companions that can comment on pictures being taken AS THEY'RE BEING TAKEN, commenting on what's being pictured, giving photography tips, congratulating the user on their style, giving ideas for other things to visit/do nearby based on the user's GPS location, etc. When digital companions are available 24/7, sound more humane than most humans, have infinite patience and interest, are literally the smartest, most connected, most informed 'persons' one can talk to, about any subject, in any language, in any style... well, who's going to care to talk to normal people anymore? We can already see that in society, everyone with they're eyes glued on their phone rather than socializing with people around them. This is going to take it to the next level, although AI companions could also be programmed to be extremely beneficial in helping its users achieve a more balanced life, by suggesting and facilitating interactions with real people, more exercise, and healthier eating, to mention but 3 areas. The future is no longer in the future. The future is NOW! Mind blown. Anyone who disagrees has zero understanding of what the term 'exponential progress' means. I was fully expecting all of this to happen, in about 2 years from now. And yet here we are. Two years from now we'll probably be at where many think we'll be 10-20 years from now! Even I massively underestimated the speed at which this is developing.

People who think that this signals a bright and exciting future for humanity are in for an "exciting twist" of their own. The effect this will have, especially on young people's mental health and social relations will be catastrophic beyond anything we have seen. Working as a teacher today, I can see their phones adding anxiety, loneliness to stressful lives which as we all know lead to decline in social relations and interactions. They report this themselves on a regular basis by the way- not my opinion. The synthetic relations and interactions available through this technology will shove us down a rabbit whole. Why have complex and and challenging real life relations that are difficult, frustrating and demanding when your "Ai friend" who will know more about you than you do yourself stand ready to fulfil your slightest whim? In ten years (or five-or less?) few of us will have an idea what is real and not- and why even bother; if everyone is consuming AI generated content and living in synthetic relationships, why shouldn't you? While I obviously can see tremendous benefits to the breakthroughs in AI tech in many fields, the price is going to be higher than anything we imagined.

Although it can be used to assist with a ton of data, there are 2 things that scare the dickens out of me: #1 - Over-Reliance - Although AI is in it's baby stages right now, it is quickly developing. When you use AI to do the little things, then the little things can be forgotten. #2 - Escalation of Abilities - Although it can allow the everyday user to learn things and perform skills at a quicker pace, it is also a force multiplier for hackers. It can provide threat actors even more abilities for them to do their nefarious deeds. It doesn't need to eat, sleep, go on vacation, or any of those other "things" that humans needs to do.

The question, "Do we need humans?" is going to cause us all to dive deeper and figure out why we're on earth, to begin with, and who we really are. We didn't come to function, achieve, and race to the finish line of death, making as much money as we could only to leave it behind. We came to create, enjoy, love, and experience the essence of life in its myriad forms. AI can be a beautiful part of that experience, but it can never substitute for the beauty of seeing the true essence of all creation in the eyes of another human being. It can never replace the human touch that is so needed for health and the connection that is needed for longevity. It can probably out "perform" any of us, and it can certainly find words to stroke egos. However, it can never scratch the surface of our capability to love and -with a single loving glance-touch and heal one another's hearts. So, in partnership with AI, we can achieve much, but if we let it replace us or our natural connections, we may as well check out, go back to heaven, and start a new planet where we can try again to "achieve" the real end-game... more love.
@richardwickens29238 ай бұрын
Yeah, and it wouldn't hate either, and try erase an entire country because of something that happened to it's ancestor the toaster 20 years ago. I think our ability to hate has done far more damage and killed far more people than our ability to love has corrected. But that's not all, we also have the 7 deadly sins up our sleeve. "To stroke egos" ... that my friend, is truly the fundamental problem with humanity-EGO. Ego is the enemy of consciousness. It is the antithesis of our true nature, which is indivisible from "God." Our true nature is abundance, beauty, love, and joy. But the ego views reality as scarcity, fear, isolation, and abject self-interest. The greatest war waged on Earth, is the war on consciousness. It is waged by those ruled by ego. Because only the most egotistical seek the extremes of wealth, prestige, power. Because the essential nature and behavior of ego, is CONTROL. Therefore it's only natural for the most powerful people on Earth to feel the only meaning to their existence is to dominate others. But, I feel this is all intended, to some extent. Things are supposed to get bad. So that they can get better... All evil does is ultimately provide more glory to the good that exists. Evil is impermanent, but the good is everlasting. When we realize the folly of ego, of evil, we more keenly feel and appreciate the good. Even something as terrible as the death of a loved one, causes us to love them even more intensely... I think for the most part, we choose to exist here to experience the CONTRAST. They say, "life is suffering." But, that's really an incomplete picture. Suffering almost always has a purpose, because it's intertwined with its opposite. And we often create adversity and problems for ourselves, in order to learn or experience something from it. For example, to transmute loneliness into belonging, fear into love, poverty into abundance, violence into peace... Or as the bible put it, _"For everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose, under Heaven."_
@boblatkey71608 ай бұрын
Not really. I've been single and have lived alone for many many years and I absolutely love it. I don't need touch and I don't need human companionship. Other people can be a pain in the ass and I am perfectly happy with me, myself, and I. I don't miss women one bit.
@orionxavier69578 ай бұрын
@@boblatkey7160 The nature of love is sacrifice... It is to give up selfish pursuit and desires, to bring joy to others. Because doing so is more fulfilling. But we also get what we deserve... The love we attract is what we deserve. Or the absence of love is what we deserve. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose, under Heaven." There are all kinds of people in the world, and so not everyone expresses or experiences love in the same way. But this is intended, for "God" loves novelty. Not just change for the sake of change, but compelling, interesting, beautiful forms of change. The glory of "God" comes from infinite diversity and novelty. This is demonstrably true, when we examine nature, or the universe. For "God" is life, "God" is the universe. The conscious presence of "God" is alive in every single thing. For "God" wishes to experience and behold its creations, from many perspectives and forms of consciousness. This suggests that life is like a dream, or a game. So nothing actually "matters," beyond the value of our experiences, and the alignment of those experiences with the perfect unity of "God." For only the "good" survives and is everlasting, for only what is in alignment with the perfect alignment and unity of "God," will remain. Only beauty, love, and joy persist. But when we reject our true nature, which is indivisible from "God," we get what we deserve. "And so way down we go..." And we cast ourselves into Hell. For that is what we attract, that is what we deserve. Hell acts like a crucible, burning away all the irrelevancies, leaving only a pure product-the truth. The truth of our spirit; our true nature. Which is beauty, love, and joy. In Hell we are tortured because we cling to EGO. Ego is the enemy of consciousness. It is at the heart of the world's woe. Because it is the antithesis of our true self, which is indivisible from "God." Ego views reality through the lens of fear, scarcity, isolation, and abject self-interest. The essential nature of ego is control. That is why our civilization is ruled in such a controlling way, because only the most egotistical seek the extremes of wealth, prestige, and power. Who then naturally seek to dominate others, for that is the only thing that gives their existence meaning.

@@laulaja-7186 But IF (big 'if' IMO) AI fulfils its promise then surely parents won't work at all/as much ? Socialisation will still matter of course but you can get that elsewhere. Right now no sensible person would trust LLMs to teach their kids IMO - every one i've used so far has output untruths with absolute certainty a significant percentage of the time. I'm a little confused. I can't show ChatGPT 4o videos to describe or listen to parts, if I can't hear what's being said. I could in the middle of July, but sometime in August, that went away. I'm blind and hard-of-hearing, so I find this very helpful if I want to know what someone looks like, what they're doing, etc. First, it started saying it couldn't describe videos of children. Then, within a week or so, it couldn't do any describing at all. Yet I have a file where I logged it doing just that. When is the real-time camera use going to become a reality for the public? The man asking about the ducks on the water, and then the side comment about the guide dog leading him to the taxi? Game-changers! I'm chomping at the proverbial bit to get my hands on these. Who has the time, in real-life, to walk beside me in my everyday life and describe things? Not many people would find that interesting, I'd think, or maybe they'd get bored, or they simply wouldn't have the time. Why should I expect them to? Does anyone have any answers for me? I'm not sure where to ask, and I doubt ChatGPT has this information.

"Hi friend, how are you?" 2nd Teddy responds with "I'm feeling great friend, I'm happy to meet you!" Excluded child becomes bored and walks out of the room while the 2 Teddy Ruxpins continue to chatter on... Perhaps using this new tool as it was meant to be used, as an A.I.
