@@JimmyBoosterCrate Nepo doesn't finish strong. Been watching him play and he will leak oil at some point. Abasov is no punk. Not having a great event but if someone overpresses he could surprise. Also Hikaru started with 4/6 blacks. Now he gets to finish with 4/7 white games against some players who have bad records against him with black. It's all to play for at this point. Check back in on round 11 and we'll chat. Great event so far. Rooting for Hikaru, Fab and Ian. Those are my old dogs and they won't get too many more chances at it. The kids will get many chances, they can wait.
@thesnackbandit7 ай бұрын
Honestly, there’s basically no chance now. Average winning score is 8.5/14. Hikaru is currently 3.5/7 with 7 rounds remaining. This means that he would have to score 5/7 , or in other words 3 wins out of 7 with no losses. This is basically assuming that Ian doesn’t win another game and that any of the 3 players tied on 4 (caruana, pragg, and gukesh) don’t win more than 1 game each. There’s a tiny chance, but realistically it’s probably less than 5%. You never know though.

I was cheering for you in this game watching with the engine, and I learned a thing I never noticed about chess.... Your opponent is a human. If there's a lot of moves that'll make him lose in the next moves then you are in advantage. It sounds obvious but looking alternative lines I understood that the engine took this into consideration and that's probably why the engine is so good. Even if playing to the end all lines perfectly to the end results in a draw, the one who has less possibilities of getting into trouble with the best moves is better. That was a mindblowing moment.

What a game! Someone has to take down the tournament leader and Hikaru takes his only shot with the White pieces! Dusting off prep from at least 3years ago, Nepo still remembers enough to escape most of the traps in this line and the result is a hammer and tongs struggle of unbalanced material, Hikaru 's rook and 2 pieces for a queen that ends in a draw.

Every moment of the game is exhilarating!! One of the best games yet. Wish Hikaru's kick chat was a viable chat where folks can engage with each other. But instead, it is filled with bullies, racists, cruel-hearted people, and trolls. Other chess chats are enforced like Naroditsky. And the mods seem to defend those that cause the issues. I have given Hikaru over $2300 since 2019, so I want him to succeed. His chat must change so everyone can feel comfortable stating a comment without being hit by cynicism, sarcasm, anger, name calling (dummy seems to be popular), or bullying. It is the most massive tarnish on Hikaru's reputation that is growing exponentially. The mods seem to always (every 9 out of 11 times because I've kept track for a year) side with the one chatter who started the issues in being the first to initiate the confrontations. There is a direct correlation between those in chat who talk/engage the most (so names are recognizable) and not being defended by the mods. My guess is since the mods see their names more and more, they assume they are causing the most problems or started it. The mods favorite line is "just mute the ones that annoy you." Its the mods responsibility to make a safe chat. The mods who are supposed to investigate to deesclate. The mods must also realize when muting the ones that annoy, you are filtering half the chat that have no business being in chat anyway. The quality of the chat is more important than have the most poeople who just want to be there to troll. One of the reasons Hikaru went to kick as well was to get a new chat that is not filled with those who are coming and going. Lately, Kick has become diluted too with the same folks that were on Twitch. Because of this, Hikaru's chat needs to be regulated and enforced while realizing their baised to protect the bullies. For every person calling another a "dummy" to someone who is watching the stream should be defended so that person is not lost
