I've had one for a year sounds great and looks like a vintage guitar,i compared it to the inspired by gibson and an $1100 taylor and i was so impressed i took it home!!!

I like this guitar. To me it seems like an intermediate build with an intermediate price and sound. Just perfect for an intermediate player or advanced beginner (as we used to be classified). I also feel that the unique styling combined with the classic hummingbird motif will help it hold up it's value.

I bought one with the bridge coming off from Guitar Center for cheap. What I first noticed was how it smelled inside…strong weird maybe woody odor, but not normal… you can even smell in the room it’s in. Anyway I replaced the bridge, and removed the pickup, new saddle & nut and it’s a pretty nice sounding SMELLY guitar. I replaced pickup w fishman soundhole p/u…way better.

Just some friendly advice from another strummer, i wouldn't let the battery pack detur you from buying this guitar. I don't own this particular guitar but speaking from experience It may have fallen from the velcro due to shipping, it won't happen often. I personally think its a nice feature instead of having a plastic compartment on the outside of your guitar. I put an lrbaggs pickup in my martin 000-15 and it now has the same battery pack. You will never even notice its there. In three years it has only fallen loose once. Best of luck in your decision!! @RichardMason

This must be your first rodeo young man with battery packs. I've never had a problem with my Masterbilt staying in tune. I recently got a beautiful frontier. It has it's own sound I love it. It also has a really nice sounding pickup system. I like the all wood build sika spruce and maple sides & back. Enjoy . you are a good picker. I'm sure you Epi will open up very nicely..

It’s a great guitar. I love the tone it carries, now they’re plenty of guitars that don’t carry the household names that sound just as good as the household names if not better but from a big box store it’s a superb guitar.

“That’s weird”….”reputation for going out of tune”….numerous other comments show you’re a young guitarist, rookie….you haven’t been around the whole block which may take you awhile in this guitar universe(electric and acoustic). There’s a lot of people who listen to hard nosed opinions and right away make that their opinion but don’t really know. Try it and make your own personal opinion. The latest epiphones are nothing like a few years ago and that includes the latest “budget brands”….but hey, you’re excused. BTW, nice playing. Mahalo nui loa for sharing your time.

I would be curious to see a review 1.5 year later to hear your thoughts. I got mine in 2020 and it seems to stay in tune pretty well. I guess it's all relative :) Should not you change the strings first before testing a new guitar, especially when they are in that price range and have been stringed to withstand long shipping times from Asia? Yours seems to sound brighter than mine with Elixir strings on it.

Depends on what Martin you are getting. If you are buying a Martin then you better just go all out. I played many Martins, Gibsons etc... I currently own a Martin GPC 16 style rosewood and a Gibson Hummingbird. I would personally rather own an Epiphone then say a Martin X series or road series.

Just loosen the strings until you can pull them aside. I was put off by the battery situation too, but it really wasn't that big of a deal to change. The battery will last a long time as long as you don't leave the cable plugged in all the time.
