Good grief is this car fast! 95kph is insane on 3s! I'm so glad you were able to swap in a new ESC and test this one again. If this car was just a bit cheaper it would be perfect. Awesome job Dave!

yes bit much for what it is 1/18 scale..would be interesting to know what you think of 144010 vs this one? did you say coolrc esc 45amps? any benefits of going surpass hobby esc? hope your doing aok over in W.A, raining like crazy over here east coast nsw.

Seems to be running better. I might go with one of the 45amp esc because mine has almost no brakes. :) I sent mine full speed into a curb on accident last night. Only a turnbuckle popped apart. I expected a lot more damage.

Great runs have they started putting more grease in the diffs I like the surpass hobby motors but I have had bad luck with there esc's

Nice runs brother!! That's crazy, it's really stable for a 1/18th scale. Since everyone uses the WLtoys cars for speed runs they should start including contact foams, or offer a roller with foams included, that would be cool They could beef up the suspension, and drive train on rollers, and the cost of electronics QC issues issues could be put towards making it a better speedrunner. WLtoys clone an Arrma limitless with all the aerodynamics so we can use the new Delta plastics body, and all the upgraded parts made for the limitless. If you could sell it for @300.00 there would be no reason to buy the limitless.

Hi Dave, if you do a side by side comparison of the A959 and the 184016, what would you say are the most obvious upgrades they did except the metal chassis, wheels and the brushless setup?

Besides that they are both the same scale, and the body style is similar as the a959, they are totally different cars all together, this 184016 is basically a mini 144010 brushless

@@PERTHWESTOZRC Hi Dave, thank you for the reply, what I am trying to determine is what is different suspension and chassis-wise to make this little beast so much more controllable in a straight line compared to the A-959, and if it is at all possible to rebuild an A-959 to be like the 184016? Oh well, perhaps one must just appreciate each car in its own right and not try to change it into something that it is not ...

Very impressive for wltoys man think it might be worth grabbing one and upgrading ESC and correct foams these will fly! Quick one Dave what size connectors on these stock motors bro? Is it 3.5 or 4mm mate going upgrade ESC and grab a decent fan for the motor keep it cool on speed passes 🙏💚👊

Sorry for late reply Jordan, yeah the bullet connectors on the 2845 are the typical size to the esc which is like 3.5mm like you said pretty sure mate 👍

Mine had absolutely zero oil in the shocks as in bone dry not even residue, easy fix. Probably one of my favourites now 🙂

Hi mate nice review. I just bought this car and noticed an issue with the ESC. I think it's 'cogging' at takeoff with low throttle input and doesn't reverse on first press of the trigger (takes a couple of times). And thottle response is generally poor. Are these the same issues you faced with the 35A ESC? Brakes on mine work fine though.

Mine had an issue of going at full throttle at first then just slowing right down to basically nothing in a limp mode, it was obviously a faulty esc so i swapped it out for another one i had. Just buy a new 45A or 60A ESC and you should have no more issues.

I agree on the price aspect of this car Dave, it’s a bit high! Aside from that though, 95km/h! Wow! That’s freakin amazing! I know, with 3s but Wow! Wonder if the stock esc would of done that? I’m betting not, as WLtoys usually run hot! I’m curious though. Awesome re-test bud! How many amps is that esc you were using?

Why are these tests always speed runs? Seems to me that the way a car handles corners and goes around a track is more relevant than top speed.. or am I missing something?

I will be testing it off road soon like I mentioned in this video, I just wanted to see how fast it is first since I had to replace the standard yet faulty esc. I guess most KZbin channels are doing speed runs also because that’s what a lot of people want to see?

Hey mate thanks for watching, yep it’s very quick for such a small 1/18 scale buggy, as far as the 35A esc I think some others had a bit of luck with it and others had issues so I wouldn’t recommend it really. Seemed like they made this car just to use the standard 1500mah 2S lipo as there is hardly any room there for larger lipos anyways.
