TL;DR - You play the game as Kyle which you don't find out until the end, Sam was the new girl in school and Kyle's (ex)bestfriend Brian took interest in Sam. Well Kyle was a closet gay and didn't know how to express his feelings for Brian so he decided to sabotage Sam by creating the cover of "dating" Stacy, and using Stacy to get things that would make Sam look bad. Learned information about Sam, then took all of the pictures and was Brians stalker but pinned all the stocking on Sam. Eventually invited Sam to their hideout (that he learned about from the diary he's reading the entire game) which was at the edge of a cliff on the hill, and he pushed her off effectively murdering her and making it look like a suicide.
