The incident did not happen on Legon campus but on the UGBS annex, on the UPSA stretch. That stretch is very bushy with grown weeds and there’s also No Street Lights on that stretch. The bushes, trees and grasses along the Pentagon to the Bani Car washing base and to Atomic Junction Overpass has to be weeded and trim to make the road comfortable for pedestrians especially students to use. The lights too are not working consistently, it works today tomorrow it’s off, like the UPSA Pentagon traffic lights. I agree some of the Securities are of age. The Securities on duty at the UPSA to Bani stretch help or assists pedestrians especially students at some ungodly hours, but they need to equip the Securities so they can also perform their duties well. You meet some of them who are willing to work yet the authorities have not provide them with anything to fight these criminals or work with. God bless Ghana God bless Africa New Oak Commander 1

2018, I was driving slowly on that same stretch at night. Not knowing there were some thugs in the bush beside so they threw student mattress onto my windscreen hoping my sight gets blocked totally but I managed to get to UPSA hostel on tough speed. It was very scary bro.

Paradise my crushhh. I am also at Legon main campus. The security issue is serious ooo. A lot of attacks. One of my department lecturers (UGBS) was also attacked at that stretch oo. I don't know why it is not being addressed very well. Its becoming too much. We can't go out to learn mpo hmmm😢

I actually used that stretch that evening. I went to see someone at UPSA and she told me that a friend of hers had been attacked and stabbed on the other side of that road a day before so I should use the other side. I saw the shoe on the sidewalk when I was passing which was weird to me but then I passed by only to be called the following day by my friend to ask if I was alive. Apparently, she thought I was the one who got killed. I’m only grateful to God that I wasn’t the one and may the guy’s soul rest in peace. Honestly, that road has been that way for a while now and some parts of the UG campus are very dark and scary at night. A lecturer was attacked one afternoon some time ago which made the news but then you only see a few security men once a while on the pavements and that’s all. We are basically on our own on the campus.

Lets be very serious with this issue. I totally agree with Scanty. Security men are being employed just to reduce the employment rate and not because they can protect these students. Anyone at all can be employed as a security man. I wish there could be a special training school to produce security men. If you don't undergo such training you should never be employed as such.
