I mispoke when speaking about low pressure and tides....with extreme low pressure, you'll have much higher than predicted levels of tides.

Do you recommend a 7 ft or 7’6 rod for tossing artificials?

@@FLFlatsmaster I fish with a lot of rods. Usually have about 10 on the boat, but for spinning rods, most are 7'6". If I'm going to skip a DOA Shrimp, particularly in tight quarters like a narrow canal, I'll go to a 7' or 7'3" spinning rod with a soft tip, like a 6-12 lb. class rod. I think it's easier to skip baits with a flexible rod. For baitcasting rods, I like a 6' MH rod for working topwaters like a MirrOlure Top Dog or Zara Spook. I think I'm more accurate with a shorter rod. But on open flats, I can go with a 7' baitcasting rod, as long as it's very light and has a fast tip. I like Bull Bay Rods. I was on pro-staff for G. Loomis for 16 years, while Gary Loomis owned the company and those older Loomis rods were great. I have some Star Seagis rods that are extremely light, and Star Stellar Lite rods that are excellent, but a bit heavier.

@@Lees920 thank you for the info. I have a 7 ft Avid inshore and a 7’6 loomis gcx inshore. I mainly wade fish. Both are really great rods but it seems like the 7ft is less fatiguing and easier to work lures. Maybe I just need to get more used to working the longer rod..

Fish the DOA CAL Shad - Slayer makes some good baits. (back when this video was made, they were shot by DOA)
