The clinic we attended only used the propellers and squish balls. Nobody picked up a bat. I think I prefer this one.

My son started watching and practicing Richard’s techniques spring 2023. Now at 12yrs old he is hitting .652 after 12 games in local tournaments. He had also hit his first two out of the park home runs last season. Thank you Rich! “Lock it, Snap it!”

Very interesting to watch, especially to see which players seem to get it right away while others still have to work it out. They’ll all get it if they keep at it.

You can tell some of these kids have such a hard time breaking their old habits Every coach and parent yelling “get that bat off your shoulder!” They can’t comprehend being taught different.

My son was at practice, it’s not travel, it’s rec . 12u, he’s hitting to fence, not homers yet but hitting the fence, almost there!!! Coaches kept telling him “step forward” and he looked at me and shook his head lol. Him and one other kid have this snap almost down, and coincidentally, finally, my son is in the clean up order now. It’s hard though because CONSANT correction and I have to fight against it. He knows though, so he trusts the process. The hard part is when it’s like “do this or don’t play” and that’s hard to battle to. How can you argue though if you are batting better than anyone else on team and yet they STILL try to change you. Frustrating yes, but we figured out a way around it. Pretend to step forward lol, just toe tap, stretch stay back and boom they’ll be quiet.
@jeremiahcaples9636 ай бұрын
I had this same problem in travel ball. My son would make the team with his awesome hitting then they would try and change his swing and he would instantly stop hitting the ball as hard and as accurate. So frustrating.
@thenext95376 ай бұрын
@@jeremiahcaples963 Yep. I get in scuffles I'm like "Do you like the way he's hitting? If you mess with him it's going to be worse, trust me". People and their 'level swings' and 'step forward' and knob to the ball, fast hands to ball. etc.

The problem with clinics (especially his) is unless the clinic will be followed up with a long series of lessons his style will create confusion and most of these boys coaches will be working to undo the changes right away. He has a very effective method but it requires dedication and continued work and not alot of people will teach something similar.

That's when you tell the coach to stop undoing the lessons your child was taught
@CoachAndrew774 ай бұрын
@@Bighitter03 Point is a clinic does you nothing. If you pick an outlier style you need ongoing lessons with that style. It doesn't stop. Look at Judge, sub .200 avg this season. Its a lifetime commitment. If you pay 2,000$ to fly and send your kid to a clinic, then go and tell his coach to leave him alone, well you just wasted 2000$ and proved yourself to that coach that you are a roadblock to your child's development as a hitter.
@Bighitter034 ай бұрын
@CoachAndrew77 that comment would suggest that the coach knows what he's doing. Also I understand the continuing the practice but if you teach them one way and allow someone else to undermind you you will confuse the kid which won't help them at all me telling a coach to stop undermining what I'm teaching my child is not a roadblock to my child's development

Fascinating. I just spent several minutes viewing Shohei Ohtani's swing in slow motion. Of course, he does coil in his load, but doesn't do any of the rest of this. No severe shoulder tilt, no dipping the barrel of the bat below the belt, no coming up out of his legs or yanking his head and front side off the ball. How can Ohtani possibly have the success he has had without doing everything Teacherman advocates? Ha ha ho ho hee hee.
@dape89937 ай бұрын
Also, in his load sequence, Ohtani's foot barely comes off the ground--an inch or two at most. Certainly no lifting of the front foot and suspending it as he coils back. How can he possibly be successful doing that? Doh!
@dape89937 ай бұрын
Goldschmidt coils back of course (they all do) but he barely lifts his foot (toe tap as well) and doesn't dip the barrel below the waist, severely tilt the lead shoulder, come out of his legs or pull his head and front side. Hummmmmmmmmm...
@MEGATBLAZER7 ай бұрын
I have a picture of the exact frame where shohei ohtani turns the barrel behind, to be more exact, the latest home run he's hit, with the dodgers. And about the coil, the stride, and all related to loading, Richard himself has stated that little to no stride swings are also very effective. Such as Albert Pujols' swing.
@dape89937 ай бұрын
@@MEGATBLAZER Of course Ohtani coils and of course he turns the barrel. They all do. But he does not display the severe shoulder tilt or head and shoulder pull shown here. And he does NOT dip the bat below his waist.

@@dape8993 Richard exaggerates the feel of it a lot in his videos, but in-game this will never look like this at all. I understand what your point is in this case.
