Joel, it’s a small world my grandparents lived in one of the flats at The Vyne during the 80’s/90’s and your film drought back some great memories 👌👍. Have been meaning to take the husband to visit the Vyne for years, thanks for the reminder 😃🏳️🌈

I loved this tour and would definitely enjoy seeing more. I am currently obsessed with KZbin channels of Brits restoring French chateaux and would love to see more of these English manor houses. This looks like an amazing place. The molded ceilings for one thing! Wow. Now Joel, if you didn't know where your Dad had been spending his time, you do need to pay more attention. Sit down with your parents NOW and ask questions about their lives beginning with childhood. Too many of us aren't' terribly interested until there are no older relatives to ask. Ask now and listen! :) (This is from an old Granny who enjoys following your journey.)

Loved the video and the content. I enjoyed seeing the old house, and hearing your Dad's commentary. My only criticism is that I had to keep adjusting the sound up so I could hear you talking, and then down because of the music playing in between. If you can keep the music at a more constant level equal to the conversation bits, that would be much better. Cheers.

I love to go through historical buildings, I guess that is one reason why I love to come over to London or Edinburgh and it is extra nice to have your Mom and Dad along with you! I had, at one time, considered living in the UK but it never worked out much to my sorrow. I love the smaller cars that you all drive and I always thought it would be a challenge to drive on the left side rather than the right side as here in the US. A co-worker and her husband went to New Zealand and rented a car there and they drive on the left side and he never could get use to it and ended up having an accident(not serious) and I have always thought of that when I think of returning to the UK and renting a car!!!! Thanks so much!

So cool, Joel!! I was hoping one day you would take us on one of your dad’s projects! I would love to see more of these great projects!! Would love to see any manor house especially if it has a significant garden attached. Maybe in Wiltshire, Dorset, And especially Cornwall! That county fascinates me.

I'd love for you to bring your dad and film a proper tour and story behind Tewksbury Abby. It's one of most favorite places I've ever visited while traveling. It's so beautiful. I spent days and days there poking around, sipping a cold drink on the grass outside just taking in the beauty, strolling the nearby lane ways along the water. It's one of my favorite memories. I think viewers would love seeing it inside and learning about it. Love these videos when you go exploring old places. ❤

I love England, all of Europe for that matter. I love the history and grand architecture. That is a lot of work to replace that roof. Your father is an artist. All handmade tiles. Amazing. i was taught the Art of upholstering walls by a gentleman that came to America from England, to fulfill contracts he signed to do homes in Beverly Hills in California. A lot of celebrity homes. He took me on as his apprentice. When he departed the states for home, I started my own business in West Los Angeles and continued the trade for many interior decorators in Los Angeles. The Vyne looks to have upholstered walls. First used in castles to help keep the rooms a bit warmer. First used on blocks of wood covered in padding with leather covering that and then assembled on the walls. It was first used by the Moors in the 11th century.

Joel, love these tours with your family. I think it would be fascinating to have your Dad along on a tour of the house and grounds. It's a lovely pile. I can't imagine how many servants were needed to keep the mansion in order centuries ago. The restoration looks really good. 👌 👍 The signs for the various rooms reminds me of the old British series Upstairs, Downstairs. The only thing missing are the bells.

Joel, there was an independent minister Reverend Matthew Mead. Among other things, he served at Stepney Meeting house and has a grave there. He lived 1629-1699 and had the largest congregation in London at one point. He was accused of the Rye House Plot in 1683 (a plan to assassinate King Charles II) but was let go. Anyway, he's an ancestor of mine. Either my 8x great grandfather or maybe uncle. If you're ever in the area, please say hello for me! =0)

Joel your parents are just delightful. Your mom's jacket was pretty. The Vyne is a beautiful stately home. The National Trust sounds like it similar to the National Register of Historic Places we have here in the US. One location on the Register a person can visit is somewhere I'm sure you're aware of, it's where the President lives in Washington DC. . I will love to visit the UK and see some of the stately houses like Althrop, the ancestral home of Diana , Highclare Castle , the setting of "Downton Abbey" Although I didn't watch the show while it was on the air.

I worked as a guide on the reroofing of Dyrham Park and as a result of the success of this venture the National Trust extended the plan to the Vyne. I think that it is excellent that the National Trust is allowing greater access to repair work. We had local residents visiting Dyrham every few weeks to see the repair work and I am sure people living near the Vyne also closely followed the work.

Welcome to the Janeite community! Mansfield Park can be a good introduction to Jane's books. My favorite, of course, is Pride and Prejudice. Love old houses. Here old is 300 years. You and Lia need to come to Newport RI when you come to Boston. The "summer cottages " of the uber rich of the 1880s to 1920s. Like Biltmore House some family still have rooms but most are owned by conservation groups
