Tons of cases in the room. And absolutely NONE with a single freaking 5 1/4'' drive bay. Look. I really do get that this team is passionate and creative, and some of the cases do look pretty, but I'm tired... *I'm really freaking tired of this trend.* Just yesterday, I was using my hot-swap drive bay to transfer hundreds of games onto a drive for storage. A couple weeks ago, I used an optical drive in another bay to play one of my blu-rays. On a modern case, I'd have to find and bust out some clunky USB cable with a clunky peripheral and find some place to put it, then detach everything and store it again because if I don't, it takes up valuable USB slots for nothing. But case manufacturers seem more concerned about doing ANYTHING other than adding ACTUAL functionality and modularity to their cases. Just MOAR COOLING that quite literally over 90% of people do not need. I'm tired and I want to see something actually different and useful in modern cases that isn't just cooling and aesthetics related. And I partially blame Steve for this trend as well as I have never seen him say a peep about any of this and he focuses so freaking heavily on cooling at the expense of other factors about the case. Now, don't get me wrong. cooling IS important. But c'mon. It's not the ONLY thing important about a case. There's so many other factors like durability, ease of access, port selection, power supply placement, weight, and other things. And sometimes those things are covered, but they generally take a backseat.
@darbstre2900
@darbstre2900 Жыл бұрын
@@arnox4554 you're in the minority and upset the PC industry Is changing in a more cooling oriented direction for the better. You're complaining that the vast majority of people don't need the cooling so they should include 5 and a quarter inch drive bays but the argument works both ways. Also your complaints at the end are ridiculous. Durability is better then ever, gone are the days of aluminum frames. It sounds to me tho that's you're complaining about the lian li

Lian li o11 and I don't know what to tell you because as someone who worked for a boutique builder up.until recently those cases in particular have excellent build quality, airflow, ease of access and it innovated on power supply placement in a positive way. Fully Agree, Whole Heartedly Anti-RGB here, I love that Champagne Case with the solid side panel I just wish it had the perforated front on it like the model shown with the glass side window. I have glass side panels right now and I regret getting them, they are just far too fragile and honestly I'd rather have a quieter system with sound isolating foam ONLY on the side panels with perforated front panel, top panel, bottom panel, and rear panel. That gold colour with that beige champagne tone is just gorgeous! Those golden bullet shaped screw caps are also an awesome colour, I'd prefer if they were not bullet caps and instead were the same shape but said "In-Win" on the face of them & had knurled sides on them, but key to liking them is that golden finish!

InWin and there honestly ugly strange cases never made sense. Like take the Lego case as of late. But the hole thing shifts heavily ones the company is willing to show it off. And clearly by the looks of the work place alone you can tell it is not at all fair to make fun or think they are out of touch or not awesome. It is really refreshing not having advert material to look at but the real deal. Makes you far more appropriate what they do and how interesting it really is that they dare to be different.

The idea of flatpacking and "unfolding" the case makes so much sense. That would make make shipping them so much more eco-friendly! I love it!
@Lishtenbird
@Lishtenbird Жыл бұрын
A case with less rigidity is more likely to get damaged both in shipping or later in use, and could even pass that damage onto components. A damaged case is also more likely to get thrown out instead of handed down or donated or resold on the used market to someone with less money and smaller demands. You win some, you lose some.
@jegler3546
@jegler3546 Жыл бұрын
@@Lishtenbird one of the folding cases looked like it used straps instead of bending metal to fold. This would reduce the rigidity but I think it will make it much more durable. It can bend in shipping without actually bending the metal and repeatedly folding it up won't snap the metal.

Its really cool that Inwin let you tour area that's actually responsible for the ideas. I'm not sure if other people feel this way but to me it has always felt as if Inwin products are pretty ok, just missing attention to the small details that make something awesome. For instance like being really thoughtful to how people will be using their products. On a related note, I would so absolutely love a case that is really considered the whole "oh shit something is not working and I have no idea, guess I need to start stripping parts" and allows you to take off panels and parts until your left with just a open bench tray.

Really like the silver one with the orange accents along with the space “capsule” case in the white, black & orange with graphic typography - the silver one reminds me off the OG cheese grater MacPro (model before the trash can MacPro). The champagne colour one isn’t for me but only because my decor at home doesn’t fit with it, but having said that it’s great to see something in a colour other than white, black or grey. On a side note: I wish In-Win cases were more readily available in the UK. They’re pretty are to come by here.

I do admire their creativity, but their shapes and colors are too cute for my personal taste… Their design languages are also kinda all over the places.

why not... tho the cutey design should be for a single line, unless for a Limited Edition or partnership

Dear InWin - Thank you for opening your doors and showing us how you work! Now when I am shopping for cases, I will remember you and your office and the real people there - you have my respect 👍🏽 And that wooden case - it looks great 😊

InWin has been on of my favorite brands for years just for how unique they are. I check their offerings every time I start planning a build. Unfortunately none of their cases fit the use cases for my builds, but I did once get the joy of building in that InWin x EKWB case for a build I was selling to a friend.

This is exactly the kind of thing I want to see more of. Not just from GN, but from manufacturers. Let your design guys have fun, and actually show this stuff to the consumers so we can have input on what we'd like to see come to retail, versus what might really wiff.

Earlier today I looked up a computer that had wood casing and a speaker that played music. In 1961 . Really nice handbuilt systems with many reused boards that could be fitted with different silicon etc. for different uses. It had a 1500W PSU that plugged into 3 phase industrial power . The local museum is restoring one machine without the wood panels, but there's one picture of a unit with all panels that was carried to Australia for a scientific expedition . Machine was the GIER, the 2. Gen computer that Mr. Naur used for his award winning pioneering project that (among other stuff) gave us the popular BNF notation for describing computer command syntax.

InWin was the maker of some of the best cases I ever owned some 30 years ago. I regret getting rid of my full tower and mid towers. They were built rugged with thick steel sheets, precise joinery, and welds. I still have 3 mATX cases from the "Coffin" series. Will never get rid of them. I'm glad they are still around. I haven't seen much of their offerings.

Massive props to any company that allows these kind of design experiments. Also absolutely love the idea of more modular style of cases and builds. Wouldn't personally buy that champagne color but I know a few that would. I want more pink stuff honestly, so hard to find pink hardware that isn't just the most ridiculous looking girly bs.

I love how you covered their design team and studio! This is exactly what I want to do when I get out of college, so being able to see into the industry is great! As for the Champagne color case, I think it's a pleasant colorway, but I have no clue if people would actually buy it. I might have if I didn't just get a new case.

InWin has always been a super cool and interesting case manufacturer. I've had a 901 for essentially a decade at this point and it's still one of the best looking and built cases I've come across to this day. It's cool to see they're continuing to innovate and come up with interesting concepts in the space.

I'm in the market for a new case at the moment and content like this really helps. A company that allows processes like these to be shown this publicly builds trust and makes me actually want to spend my money on them. In regards to the champagne case, depending on pricing and airflow of course, I'd buy that in a heartbeat, looks amazing.
