Although the older black population of the 1400s-1800s was absorbed over time into the bigger Portuguese population, most of the African communities in Portugal today started forming after the revolution in 1974 and immigration from the former colonies.

You see Marwa was right when he keeps insisting to the guide that they need to go to the park and talk to people there. But the tour guide was not convinced about it or was not being cooperative. As a guide you should always kind of bend over to your hosts requests and accept some of his ideas. To me the tour guide was not being cooperative. You see people at a park are relaxing, have time to talk, infact some are willing to talk because they may want to meet new friends. What was so hard for the guide to understand that but he kept on insisting to go to other places. Look at Marwas past vlogs most of his successful interviews are done at parks. Remember how long he spent talking to the girls at the park in portugal when he just arrived? The girls were willing to talk and were also curious and keen to talk. But i could see Marwa was getting frustrated with the tour guide, telling him look am at the right place. There are a bunch of Africans here and this is the place we need to be. But the guy was not hearing about that he kept on insisting to other options.

People in portugal are conservative, black people living there tend to be conservative as well. People are not pro active. They normally dont like to take action. They just go about their daily lives. And black people in europe are suspicious by nature. This is still the continent of our oppressor. My best suggestion for interviews would be in shopping malls like Colombo, Vasco da Gama or even the beach like Carcavelos. You could also hit Bairro Alto and night clubs. People in the suburbs are low key. Suburbs in lisbon are mostly residential area. Not too much fuss. Dont worry about your languags skills. Even if you spoke portuguese people would still be suspicious 😅. I like to say that people in portugal have money for a Ferrari but like to settle for a BMW. The want to be low-key. Let me know how it went ✊🏿

People normally do not know what they talk about Portugal and African people in Portugal. About 20% of the people born between 1960 and 1976 living in Portugal they did it in... Africa. (The figures available are not reliable.) Most of the white people living in Africa left it after the end of the wars and the independence of the former Portuguese colonies. Some former colons left to South Africa, others Venezuela, but most came back to the current Portugal. (Metrople.) Hundreds of thousands of white people living in Portugal today were born in Africa. They are Africans. Most of the Black people against the independence of theirs countries stayed in their lands in Africa. Some migrated to the Metropole. (Today, Portugal in Europe.) Most of the blacks living today in Portugal were born in... Europe. They can have different cultures from the main stream culture in Portugal but they are Europeans. Most of them are descendants of the immigrants who moved to Portugal from our former colonies. Today in Portugal, black is black and white is white. African is a place of origin, not the colour or religion. The Portuguese society is very complex. We need to fight the white racists and those from outside who pretend to not be racists but they are too, even if they are black. Racists should not have the right to spread chaos, hate and confusion in my land, Portugal. And, btw, just to make sure how this discussion stands. The Portuguese in the past bought the slaves from the people living in Africa. Blacks and Africans like those who where enslaved and sold to the Portuguese traders. So, if some ignorant people pretends to blackmail the current Portuguese generations, and if they are from Africa, they should be ashamed by themselves. My grand-parents bought the slaves from their grand-parents. (And I stop here, because the history is too complex to discuss in this section.)
