Why Uk cant make own attack helicopters ?😂
@chrisaskin6144
@chrisaskin6144 7 ай бұрын
@@shuttlespace04Britain could very likely design and build an attack 'copter - maybe even superior to the Apache. There has been instances of this in the past. However, two things usually get in the way: firstly the time frame, and secondly finances. The project more often than not starts to exceed the "in service" time and incurs vast cost overruns. The cherry on the cake is usually the lack of orders needed to make it financially viable because other countries would rather buy " the American one" (other countries may even be getting "leaned on" by the Americans to buy their's), so an order book of four to Oman and a provisional order of one to Ethiopia won't be enough to cut it. So eventually, having spent billions trying to bring it into service, the government will call time on it to cut their losses. The Americans will then take it over and end up selling the finished article back to us, and take all the kudos for it.

@@Hereford1642I understand where you are coming from but have to point out that the Ministry of Defence only has a finite budget. Like I mentioned in my other comment, we have multiple types of helicopters in service. The Apache fits the role perfectly and seems pointless to attempt to build a competitor model. As for your comment about aspiring youth, let me point out that all the Apache helicopters are maintained and serviced by British service personnel, as I briefly considered being an aircraft technician in the British Army when the Apache's were first brought into service. I'm pretty sure that British talent is involved in the design of the new Apache as it holds a lot of our technology, in the same way that the Japanese involvement in the Tempest program, will see the Japanese add their own technology to their versions of Tempest. Trust me, there are no shortage of vacancies for suitably trained young British designers within the countless British Military suppliers.

Why doesn't the British army use the engine nacelles modifications that push hot exhaust upwards to dissipate a lot more heat and make the helicopter a lot more resistant to IR missiles?

Because that's intelligent engineering and well thought out design concepts. That's why.

Helicopters are not a nightmare anymore. They have been shot out by Manpada from operations both by Ukraine and Russia. But nice toys for boys. The drones have come. They are slow moving. Gunners and Manpad Operators drool at the mere sight of an attack helicopter😂😂😂😂

Pretty sure the new ah64e has the data link 16 system so an f35 cruising overhead can share it's target picture with the helicopter

I like how Alex came up with the topic. Alex, wars are fought by determination NOT planes. Like on leader used to say big guns only scare monkeys from the forests.

That is an Apache (Long Bow). It means it can stick the (Mast) out and keep the aircraft hidden. The (Mast) Radar dome allows it to sight and target in communication with others. The Hellfire mk4 goes up then down and keeps the concealment of the aircraft. The Russians want the KA thingy to do the same however it has to hold position to laser the target. Yeah..

The E model can control up to 2 drones from over 70 miles away making them lethal in high threat environments. The Apache can stay the same and can become more lethal with increases in drone technology.

Now put a group of apaches together with 2 drones each, linked in to ground forces and other air assets. Scary stuff
