Such a shame, mainly for the victims, but also for the perp, and he and regrets it. Of all the words put to mouth or pen, the saddest are "it might have been." -William Shakespeare

Most people on death row will never be executed, I think it's about 15% of them that will actually be killed. Most will have their sentences reversed into a life sentence, other will be found innocent with modern technology or that the mans lawyer can prove some kind of mental illness etc. I don't think they have given up hope.
@bjorlam8201

Because if they act like assholes, it may fuck up their chances of switching to life sentences because the case could be argued that they are too volatile to be trusted. Also if they can be trusted to have a cat, tv and other luxuries, they will be pretty chill because they want to keep them

I have heard from former prisoners that the prison population is generally more polite and respectful than the free world of today. People that are released that have been locked up for many years are often shocked at how rude people in the free world can be to each other.

It's necessary to punish criminals, especially murderers and sex offenders. It's also important to keep rehabilitation at the forefront of the system to ensure child offenders and robbers aren't forgotten about. That guy with the 170 years sentence for the double homicide was 13. For that age he should have 30 solid years in prison; enough to scar him for life and to give the families of the victims closure. It's been 35 years and he's clearly rehabilitated. It's pointless keeping him locked up. Give him parole and replace his cell with a child molester

Not only that, he as well was able to educate himself without school, textbooks or parents. He did all by himself. I think as well he deserves a second chance, especially because he was 13 years old. If he was older like 20-23 then I would say ok, but between 13 and 20 everything in your body and mind changes and when you grow old and look at your teenage years I think everybody would say "God how stupid I was". He kills 2 elders for 5 $ it's clearly that he was acting without thinking. The guy who got out of death row for 3 murders took a deal, even if he will die in prison it won't be because somebody appoint his death date and strap him, why they don't do that for this guy as well?
@shyonhill2146
@shyonhill2146 7 жыл бұрын
no he should have 170 years. He took innocent lives. Doesn’t matter if he was “only” 13. That still doesn’t excuse him. 13 year olds don’t murder.
@baldyarmpits
@baldyarmpits 6 жыл бұрын
Is this assumption that he is rehabilitated based on the 30 second interview he gave in this doc? Or do you guys know him personally and actually know what he's like in person? Because if I was locked up like that for years and years and a camera crew came into the prison, I'd have exactly what I wanted to say well rehearsed so anyone who happened to see the documentary might feel sorry for me and might help me get out!

What makes you believe or what guarantees you that he wouldn't commit something like that again once freed? He clearly needs help and mental support. Only if he showed to have perfectly recovered, he should get a chance to get out on parole. But you still wouldn't have a guarantee that nothing would happen afterwards. If you end up in prison for a first-degree homicide, for apparently no reason, at 15 years old, there's something wrong with you.
@Tsumami__

+Vylkeer it's not worth risking people's lives to test whether people have been rehabilitated, imo. And yes, you're correct, someone doing some shit like that particularly at that age says they aren't capable of normal thought process or empathy. He shouldn't be out with normal people.

Ask anyone over the age of 30 if they are the same person that they were at 13. You barely understand consequences at that age. They should have worked on rehabilitation for him instead of sentencing him to 170 years in prison... This is so sad he could have had a great life. So many things have changed in my life since I was 13 and I'm only 17 now.

I agree completely. Your brain doesn't even fully physically develop until your early twenties. There needs to be more money going into rehabilitation programs. But honestly the only way to make that happen is to tax the public more and can you imagine the outrage that there would be if people had to "give even more of their hard earned money to murderers and pedophiles." The average inmate with a life sentence costs taxpayers 1 million dollars which is already a fuck ton of money. I wish more people would realize that most criminals are good people who have just made bad decisions

If what he says is true and it was as "easy" as robbery then stealing a car that had people in it though the people were not hurt...that should not hold that much time. It would never hold more than 10 years now for sure and he would not do more than 4-5 on that. Now, I do not know that he could function out here. My husband was killed by 2 thieves and I had the death penalty lifted, and after 40 yrs one of them are up for parole. I couldn't do anything for the 2 perp because of other murder cases he had against him. The power of forgiveness does wonders. Lacona Mccoy a citizen of the United States and I would vote to keep the death penalty legal. The law is clear. If the death penalty is on the table, don't murder people. Trying to get murderers out of prison is not a good deed, it's dangerous to innocent people who don't lack control over their actions and kill people. What makes you think they wouldn't do it again? They won't be able to get a decent job since they went to prison for murder and will likely turn to theft. They had the audacity to not only have one but multiple murder charges. SMH

I hate how these men commit crimes and try to come off like their punishment is a injustice. Their actions led them to kill as if they were animals, so no I don't feel sorry for any of them. The man who has been there since the age of 15 deserves to be there, at that age you know right from wrong and he decided to do wrong over some "carnival" that was in town? These victims were mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, wives, and grandmothers and they had no say in their deaths.

That's pretty fucked up. If they shouldn't have access to humans for safety reasons, then they shouldn't have access to pets for the ANIMAL'S safety. Humans are selfish and disgusting. Why put an animal at risk like that? Bc it's "just an animal". Such bullshit.
@letsgetit90
@letsgetit90 7 жыл бұрын
How is it fuck up? Yeah these dudes are death room inmates, but they don't let any kind of inmates has pets. Prisons that allow pets to be house with the inmates, have a common rule among the inmates where if you dare hurt the pet than your dead, they dont play that shitt there! The animals that are there are homeless or shelter animals. They are providing the pets with love and a place to stay. The dam pets don't give a dam who their owners is even if they are a criminals. Its benefits both party's, the pet gets a loving home even if it prison and the prisoner gets a friend that they can care and love. In a way its helping animals that would have been put down in the shelters by giving them a second chance. To me that seems fine. I dont know why that is being selfish and disgusting. So are you telling me that you would rather have the animals be put do to death rather than staying in a prison where they will be tend to with love and affection and food? Where they can have a second chance of life rather than being put to death? And i guess we humans are selfish after all because you didn't even look at the bigger picture. There are 2 million people lock up in the US. If we were able to get least 500,000 prisoners with animals from the shelter than we would be saving 500,000 animals. Around 2.7 million animals are put down each year, and i am pretty sure that numbers is gonna increase because people like to buy pets rather than adopt one and saving lives. I love seeing the faces of the inmates and pets together. Makes me smile to know that these animals are getting a second chance and the same thing for the inmates, even tho, they are locked. I really think you should do so more research on this matter before you say stuff like this...

Finlay Constant I don't understand the the system. They kill people but they can have access to TVs and animals. They can have all these things and talk about doing the right things when they get out but then they get out and start it up all over again. That's straight-up bullshit. But they're human beings, I guess.😐

The one who committed the double homicide at the age of 13 is a tragic case, he was a little kid for all intent and purposes. Don't get me wrong, I think what he and the other kid did was a horrific crime but, he had the mind of a child,a killer child but none the less a child, he is not the same person now.

Sanford seemed very nice! I mean, he was 13 when he committed the crime. I think the judge went a little hard on him. Instead of 170 yrs I think that they could have given him at least 20 yrs. You don’t think very well at that age.

I literally almost cried for the guy whose serving 170 years and has been in jail since 15. That man missed out on life and when he started naming all the things out loud I couldn't help but feel for the man. A 38 yr old man is haunted everyday by his 13 yr old self. Imagine if that man had one week free to live life what would he do?? HE DESERVES TO BE FREE. I mean he actually educated himself cause he was using some sentence enhancers right there.
