We shot this inside look at ‪@eastmanguitars‬ in Pomona, CA while we were attending The NAMM Show earlier this year.
It was great to see the attention to detail that all the instruments are subject to after arriving in the US & before shipment to the dealers, and goes to show why Eastman is one of our favorite brands.

I have an sb59 and it’s absolutely my favorite. I have 6 or 7 electrics but I always end up picking up the Eastman. It just plays so well, looks so good and sounds amazing

I have bought 3 in the last months. An sb59-gb (with SD antiquities), an E8om tc, and a t486-bk. All 3 play beautifully and look stunning, the maple cap on the sb59 is to die for

Just bought my 5th EASTMAN guitar from the acoustic shoppe and I can say the Acoustic Shoppe is THE best place to buy these wonderful instruments. The guitar like all the others was perfectly shipped AND perfectly set up. There was lots of extra case candy thrown in as well. Customer service is TOP NOTCH best in the business at the Acoustic Shoppe. Do yourself a favor and check out this shop. I just got introduced to these guitars in the last two weeks. I have already purchased two of them. I purchased an SB59/V Relic (pre owned) single cutaway electric solid body and a AC422CE acoustic guitar. I am so disappointed that it took me this long to discover this company. The finish work is impeccable, hard to describe any other way. I have owned almost every major brand in the last 47 years of playing except for Martin and these instruments are the real deal. I will most likely build a small collection of them going forward. Check the reviews on KZbin and go play one for yourself.

I played a E20D-tc today. Its by far the best guitar I ever played. Very warm for a rosewood. I went and played a D28 straight after and it didn't come close to this Eastman. I'm going back for it tomorrow 🤪 edited. Bought and paid for. Absoulute Cannon

I’ve had mostly amazing experiences with Eastman. I have 3 of them. I’ve only experienced one problem out of the box with bad tuners on a 422, but the rest is over the top amazing instruments.

last year I was thinking on a Martin OM when a dealer friend sent me an Eastman E20OM SB to try out for a couple days, bought it right away and was way less expensive, is now my main acoustic; loved it so much I later bought a T59V instead of a Gibson 335 and am so pleased with it too, saved heaps and have some amazing to play working guitars, thanks Eastman!

My first Eastman was the 810CE-a gorgeous thing that I gigged with for a while and then sold for about what it cost new. I bought an 805CE, which I gigged with for several years, mostly solo stuff. I sprang for a T-145, blonde, gold hardware, marked 'prototype'...wonderful guitar, solid woods and light as a feather. I own a T-185, which is probably what Gibson really had in mind so many decades ago (solid woods, output jack on the rim, ebony board, an abbreviated center block under the bridge only on a mostly hollow axe.) I did own a 371 for a minute (sent it back, the neck was funky) I still own three...each with ebony boards on 25" scale, and each very playable. I'm solidly behind these guitars. Does it bother me that they're made in China? What bothers me is that for years I believed that superior guitars came only from America. Eastman guitars are made largely by Chinese women. Whatever.

I wasn’t a buyer on this trip but next time, I plan on playing one of the MANY Eastman models they had on the floor. This is an amazing acoustic guitar shop with amazing people. I just got the E8D-TC and it blows my Martin road series out of the water. Putting the road series up for sale to buy a 2nd Eastman! I am shocked at the guitar I got for the money.

I have owned two Martins and two Eastman guitars. For fit, finish, tone and playability, this is the order they fit in beginning with the best; Martin J-40, Eastman E40om, Eastman E8om, Martin OM-21. Yes, it is true, Eastman sits comfortably right between two Martins. I have been an Eastman fan from the day I pulled that consignment E40om off the rack and strummed it. Eastman has tricks up their sleeve that Martin has never dreamed of; for instance, laminating a ring of cross-grain tone wood to the underside of the sound hole for strength as well as clear coating the entire inside of the E40om. By the way, in spite of Adirondack vs Sitka tops, with eyes closed it is nearly impossible to hear or feel a difference between the E40om and the E8om. If Eastman were to make a version of the J-40, I wonder where it would fit into my list above? I'd love the chance to find out.

Last week I picked up two more Eastman guitars, E10D-TC and E20D-TC. The E10D-TC has gorgeous flamed mahogany back and sides and, whether played softly or hard, the tone is incredible. The E20D-TC sounds great but still has original strings which I am heading to the studio to change just as soon as I post this reply.

What doesn't the Eastman company make??? I first knew them from from their saxophones. Then I found out they made string instruments...violins, cello's...in Taiwan...now I find they make acoustic guitars in California. :) Always assumed they were a Taiwan company with an American name.

Anderson, They are a Chinese company that has expanded in the last few years to include all kinds of string, fretted, brass and wind instruments. They started out with strings and grew from there. This Pomona plant does all the final setup and QC before shipping to all the US dealers.

I have an Eastman AR810CE, an archtop jazz guitar. The sunburst is the best I’ve ever seen on a guitar, equal to the best Collings mandolin. But that was made in 2011. Whoever could do those sun bursts seems to have left. Most of the other sunbursts I’ve seen on the guitars is beginner work. (I also have an E20P parlor guitar which has terrific tone and volume.) By contrast, although I have seen Eastman mandolins in the past with beautiful sunbursts, what Insee these days is mediocre. Sometimes it just looks like stain was wiped on, then quickly wiped off in the middle with a rag. If I look at the Eastman web site, I don’t see attractive fronts and backs on the mandolins. And I’ve never played an Eastman mandolin with the tone I expect from professional level instruments. (Though my parlor guitar has professional level tone and volume for fingerpicking.)

California? No mention of China? Otto is their "designer?" How hard is it to copy Martin, Gibson, and Taylor designs? Great guitars...but the fact is...they are Chinese made. That is the reason they can price their products where they do...period.

I have had many Eastman guitars over the last 20 years.. One of my best friends in Boston was instrumental in getting Eastman off the ground with their violin concern. So I'm very disappointed to say that my current Eastman, an E10-00SS/V is junk. I can't put it any other way. The bracing is crudely built and crudely carved the sound is just awful. It was unplayable when I first got it. I cannot understand how this guitar ever left your store. It's more like a typical factory Chinese guitar than anything else. Major bummer. I hope this doesn't signal a quality loss at the Eastman company. That would be very disappointing to me.

I just purchased my third Eastman & am disappointed with it also. Being very interested in Eastman with all the hype but not having a store close that has many of them to try, online buying was necessary. It’s the E8 OM-TC that’s beautiful to look at but, as for the nut & fretwork…not so hot, not on this one anyway. I did not get it from The Acoustic Guitar Shop & won’t say where but somebody somewhere dropped the ball.

This is not the factory ... Good guitars, but overrated. The best marketing is to convince people their the 'best' or better than everything else in the price range, then that narrative snowballs, great for sales. This is what Milwaukee tools does. The only Eastman that seemed like it was worth the price ($2000 CAD in this case) was the E20ooss, awesome guitar. Everything else I've played seemed good but not worth the price tag, especially when I can buy a Larrivee for the same price.
