I'm an American soldier. I was in Fallujah and various other places in Anbar Province Iraq in 2005 and 2006. I missed the big battle in Fallujah by about a year but the insurgency was still very hot and there was plenty of fighting still going on. A lot can be said about whether or not we should have been there that I won't get into here, but I will say this, I am glad life is returning to normal there. Those people deserve peace and I regret the horrors they suffered at our hands and those of others. There are children being born there now who haven't seen war. God willing they can go their entire lives without ever having to see it. That is something worth praying for.

The audacity to come here and comment this when you participated in destroying lives of parents of those babies you pray never see war. Im from another country that US destroyed for absolutely nothing, and there is nothing that gives me more joy than seeing how epically you guys failed in Iraq and how there is no American soldier that can say “Im proud for what we did in Iraq”. Must be pretty shitty participating in it, probably having PTSD from it and then staying alive to know that you were on the wrong side of history basically every war since WW2. That’s what happens when youre the only country with intellect big enough to be sold a story that youre protecting the nation by fighting a war on another continent. None of you ever fought a war in your own backyard and it would be interesting to see what would your actually victorious ancestors have to say about your proxy wars across the planet. On a side note, Iraqis are so strong, warm and I can’t imagine the terror you guys went through under the american booth. I hope future brings you nothing but prosperity, health and love and that you manage to rebuild your great country that was such a big part of making this planet an educated place. Love for people of Iraq ❤️🙏🏻

don't worry, you guys are coming back as you always do. maybe in 4 years give or take, but this time under a different pretext "to liberate Iraq from Iranian Militias" or something like that. just like 1991 , 2003 to liberate Iraq from Saddam, 2006-2011 to liberate Iraq from Alqaeda, 2014-2017 to liberate Iraq from IS. Always a different Pretext, But we all know who pays the real price of these wars.
@flyoptimum

@@WhatAboutYou123 1991 was Saddam's mistake, and the Kuwaitis Saudis are quite happy with that result, so you guys get to own that one. I won't argue with you that 2003 was a mistake with tragic consequences. We never left Iraq between 2003 and 2006-11 however, so I'm not sure what other "pretext" you're trying to conjure up there. We invaded in 2003, removed Saddam, and AQI filled the power vaccum in the Sunni areas of the country wile the Mahdi Army and other Iranian-backed groups moved in in the Shia areas. It was a fiasco, that we no doubt caused, but once the gravity of our error was apparent to us, we did not simply want to extricate ourselves and let the rival factions genocide each-other. We did the surge which seemed to work to a point that we were satisfied enough to leave and did so, which was another huge mistake. Fast forward and the Obama administration decided to treat the Arab Spring like it was Woodstock, the Maliki government in Baghdad was corrupt and authoritarian, and ISIS was able to take a third of the country. So what were we do do? Just say, "well that sucks, hope they work it out." No, ISIS was the was the most brutal incarnation of Sunni fundamentalism in living memory. They had to be dealt with. This time we allowed the Iraqis to do the vast majority of the fighting on the ground while we supported them from the air. It worked pretty well and the Caliphate fell. As for Iran. They're our enemies, and have powerful influence in Iraq. We don't want to go back there, and hopefully with use of soft power and proxies, we will be successful in eroding their influence and limiting their reach without having to go to war. If however they get froggy and move in the open to take territory, you had better belive, we will be there, and in that instance, we won't be coming as occupiers with misguided hopes for creating Western democracies in the Middle East. It will be much more like 1991, where we're coming with very specific aims to punch an enemy in the face for overstepping their bounds, and that kind of war, has a different character all together.

An April 2004 Gallup poll showed Iraqis thought the invasion was "worth it" by a margin of more than 2 to 1. They didn't change their tune until 2006 when mass sectarian violence swept the country. In other words they mass murdered each other and then blamed Americans.

As an Indian, with another ancient civilization, I feel really sad on how the US destroyed Iraq. Iraqis were known from antiquity about everything from Assyrians, Babylonians, Chaldean, Akkadian. Discovery of wheel, to manuscripts, I'm obsessed with Iraq. It's even so kind of Iraqis that they don't hold any grudge against any American civilian, I really respect them for that. Phenomenal people.

I spent two years there and I’ve always wanted to go back and visit the places I was posted. Spent 6 months in Najaf and 5 months in Al Hit (not far from Fallujah) in 05 and then 9 months in Ballad in 07/08. I know ISIS ended up taking control of our old patrol base in Al Hit, it was surreal to see their flag flying over the building I lived in for so long. We lived with a company of Iraqi army and we got pretty close to those guys. I made friends I still talk to today over the internet, one of them ended up immigrating here and has a family now. Najaf was a beautiful city in 05 I’m sure it’s even better now.

They gave wound and then apply cream on it is known as Americans . Because iraqi peoples are very innocent. I am from India. us never harm us because we are innocent but as well as we use our brain . You fights with each other that's why america or others countries take advantage of that . What happen with saddam Hussein it was a pre planned murder . I don't know about him very deeply but i read about saddam Hussein he always help Palestinians peoples and he was trying to make iraq a great powerful country. I don't know my iraqi brothers like saddam or not but as i read about saddam he was a good man . I really love him nd feeling sad for our brothers and sisters who is suffering in Palestine 😢
@abc_cba
@abc_cba 9 ай бұрын
@@Workkingforjannah no, Saddam was so good man either. Read about the campaign of Al Anfal and Halabja Massacre that he carried out and how he completely dried out the rivers that passed thru the Marsh Arabs areas which didn't like him, read on Marsh Arabs too. Read on what he did to the Kurds and Shia Muslims and how many people including father of Muqtada Sadr he assassinated. Read what a beast his son Uday was and what he would do to people to torture them as well. His image to put Iraqi Christians known as Assyrians or Chaldeans as his favorite and he used to spend millions of dollars to fund their churches in the US to have a great image in the Christian Belt of America worked a trick and used Tariq Aziz, his minister (who was a Christian) as his right hand as his aide in war crimes is also pretty known. Imagine, ki||ing own countrymen but trying to show sympathy for Palestinians? That's how these politicians have been using Islam as their tool to trick innocent people. Same goes for Iran, see what it did to its own children for protesting last year by hanging most of them and then talking about Palestinian cause!? Same for Sauds who indiscriminately b0mbed Yemenis last year and k1lled some half a million Yemeni in revenge for Houthi attacks, the entire Muslim world turned a blind eye on the Yemeni plight. Then Iran and Sauds patched up and millions who lost their lives is lost in the shroud of mystery. I would request you to sometimes read from a neutral stance or also from the other side of the fence as it gives you a better grasp at reality. Politics is the root cause of everything. Imagine, how Pakistanis harmed Baloch, do you know the largest number of missing people found on Earth are in Balochistan. Nobody knows where they are missing as they but the truth is any suspicious activity and their military erases the existence. Same happened along the KPK area of Pakistan where so many Pashtun people were tortured for being simply Pashtun and allies of Taliban when it annexed the KPK area. This is what the world is not seeing that how politicians are misusing religion as a tool to pit their own people and talk about Palestinians. Please, don't worry, I am not a Hindu nor a Islam hater. I only wanted you to know these facts. Best wishes.

I am from Fallujah, and we do not hate anyone as it is said about us, and all this is because of the politics that made the world judge Iraq without even visiting it or browsing about it, and he thought that we were dangerous, unfortunately, which made very few come to visit us, but I just say welcome to Iraq

I fought in the Battle Of Fallujah in November of 2004 with the US Army. First, I want to say, I hope all is good there in Fallujah and for the people there. I have to ask though; why were foreign fighters from Syria, Jordan and surrounding countries allowed in your city to establish a stronghold to fight against Americans. I personal saw torture devices and equipment that was used on the people of Fallujah by these terrorist. The blood of Fallujians all over the walls….. it was horrible. Why would a slight amount of Fallujians want to fight against America? We were there to help you. It was horrible watching your town have to evacuate and people leave their homes. Lines and lines of cars leaving the city. It was heartbreaking watching your city be destroyed by both sides.

The kama or jama is a type of wild mushroom that grows in the desert and is pretty popular in Iraq and Syria as well as some some Arabian gulf countries. It has a very distinctive taste, similar to meat and is extremely high in protein. The collectors make a hefty profit as the price gets as high as $40/KG depending on the quality and size.

Nice video Doug, thanks for portraying Fallujah as what it truly is rather than stereotypes from old times. I've been in this city and I fought in it when I was in the Iraqi 9th armored division, the city was truly devastated back in ISIS war, the local government has done an impressive work to rebuild it. Also watching your video made me want some Falluja Keebab lol, I think they're pretty famous for it, might go there once I'm off duty. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Iraq, you're welcome here any time.
