The dogs running away when you unplug that one node made me think the dogs were being mind controlled, too. They’re vicious as hell… because they were forced to be. Once the mind control stops because you unplug the node, they run scared like regular dogs. Remember, the pig was aggressive too, until you remove the worm controlling it.
@Meokka

i think the dog can be smarter if they are under control, example the fence puzzle where the boy need to pull out the 3 board from the door and the dogs are going after the boy, if they are controlled they wont fall to the same tricks over and over, also thete are 3 of the dogs, they can strategize and split up or something. Also the humans that got controlled dont 'care' of dying, but the dogs somehow is afraid of dying showed that they wont jumped of a clif to follow the boy on the first lvl of the game But who knows

I know you're probably not reading comments anymore, Sean, but I just wanted to tell you that based on all the research I've done... The numbers in every area are significant and this "blob" is #4. This is the fourth time they have conducted this experiment. Hence why all the previous testing areas were flooded. You can see the faded numbers throughout the game as you pass through. Those previous, flooded observation windows you noted are like the ones in the final facility. Hence why all those "regular" humans were watching and helping you, both before and after being the blob. That is why, I think, they have a plan for where to lead you. This is not their first rodeo.
@kayipkely
@kayipkely 9 ай бұрын
this actually really makes sense, and the thing I was thinking is that know the secret ending? we can't do the secret ending if we don't finish the game first time and know unattach all those devices throughout the game first. I feel like the "secret" ending is more like a bug in that universe It's like "im in the cornfield and I haven't gone through all of the other ones cuz im physically here. but IF only IF I (the boy) HAVE DONE THAT, I could just unplug myself from here. and the scientists plan witch is making thes 4th blob is not going to happen and they're gonna need another boy cuz I just unplugged myself" and I feel like at the start of the game we feel like oh no we're not controlled so we're kind of "special" perhaps? witch it's wrong but we would think that at the start of the game But personally, I think that even when you finish the first ending of the game, which is the OG ending of the game you would still kind of think that "oh I(the boy) was special to certain level because HE was being tested to be in the blob( out of all the other ppl, at least that's what I thought) But my thought process completely changed after I went through the secret ending of the game because other than the fact that we were controlled( which we understood that after the first ending) I thought you were kind of different from the other people that were being completely controlled without any sort a fuse of their own brains, this descending real literally proved that we were literally like the other ones. The only thing about us was that our shirt was red and we had clothes on and that was it. We were nothing different from the others and we were just disconnected from the world exactly like them so it was fascinating.

It’s called Hush and the main character is completely deaf and living in the woods and they treat the situation from her perspective of how she would take the situation in. What I love about the name is how it dawns on you as you play through it several times. At first you think "I started outside, then I went inside, and at the end I'm outside again." And then it finally clicks what the diorama is depicting, and you realize that even at the end, *you're still inside*

The only thing that comes to mind when I played this game was the Old Test Chambers in Portal 2 that Cave Johnson made. The combination of some overgrowth on top of these spherical chambers slowly breaking apart overtime. It creates this decaying scene that feels quite lonely if you stay in one place for long enough, (with only the exception of voice lines from Cave Johnson at different points and eventually, GLaDOS). It feels very similar to the somewhat empty nature that INSIDE portrays.

It's interesting how many of Sean's favorite games combine the same set of elements: a distinctive visual design that incorporates effective lighting and a grand sense of scale, strong sound design that serves to reinforce the visual aesthetic and add depth to the world itself, and a narrative that can be told with little to no dialogue simply by taking in the story that's told by the sights and sounds of the world.

My assumption is with regards the large machine that pulsates, it was the original experiment to control people on a much larger scale, it’s a power node to facilitate large amounts of control. However, in turning it on it was simply too powerful and destroyed the surrounding areas.

I always wonder about how the boy seems to be the most "free" at the beginning, even though there are people out there seemingly rounding people up, like, he's out in just farmland. Why does he go *towards* the factory? Is he trying to infiltrate the factory is that the whole goal? Or is it that although he seems to have more free will than the others, there's still some sort of hold on him drawing him into the facilities? Or is some other Thing controlling him in order to wreak havoc on the lab & join the meatball etc? Like it seems like the most preferable option would just be to stay & live with the lil chickens, no?

It was always my understanding that the flesh amalgamation was a giant hivemind of sorts that had dominion over the 'slave' people then some greedy bastards imprisoned it for money/power/control, thus controlling the masses. However it's consciousness was just free enough to coerce the boy, unbenounced to it's captors, to liberate it which is why he melds with it towards the end. Freeing the hivemind meatball frees the people. Could be some edgy reference to modern day politics or economics, I like to just think it's a good game.

Games with visual storytelling like Inside or Little Nightmares are always so fun and immersive because it gets people to be more interactive as everyone tries to piece the puzzle and theorize what the story means or what symbolic message it's getting across. Games that make you think beyond what it shows give me a greater appreciation and are definitely the best in my opinion.

i started thinking around 1:29:36 and i feel like ive come up with a good theory. the masked ones, the ones with no face but a shield to hide the people and even us from knowing that, they make the mindless ones, the ones we control through the in-game character, with the mind control device. but the more sentient faceless ones, such as the ones simply walking, or on the train, or the masked ones, even our character, they were created by a higher being. a being that controls them. that being being humans. we are their creators and controllers. the npcs, enemies and masked ppl, theyre controlled by the creators of the game, humans. and the main character, the boy, he is controlled by us, humans. we created them for us to play as them which thus lead to them creating things to play as. the game realized itself within itself so therefore it created itself. the game, in its development, it became aware of what it was, of what it was made to be, and it understood that, yet it sought to do the same. it created things to control little by little. as sean said, with pigs, but even further back, as the pigs seem semi recent here, they may have controlled bugs, before that, robots, and before that, characters in their own games. you look at most of the tech in this game and besides things like the mind control devices and massive sonar pulse devices, its not that different from ours. think, people say the oceans could rise to levels that put current shorelines completely underwater, taking out cities. our technology is moving rapidly. our games are as advanced as ever and in recent years weve been getting increasingly better in robotics and ai. we are moving in a path that is undeniably similar to the most likely route the characters in this game did. this game is a representation of a future we may see. and to push the theory even out of the game, whos to say were not doing EXACTLY what theyve done in the game. in the last couple of decades more and more people have questioned, are we actually in a simulation? what if we are, and what if the path to realization is to go so far as to be able to create simulations as real as the one were in? idk im just sayin shit new edit now that i finished the video, the thing you unplug for the secret ending, thats the plug that powers the game. just like how you cant control the mindless ones without being connected, neither can we. so you unplug the game and you lose control. and just to make it even better the design is so good that the power leaves first but just like when you turn off a light the light stays for a short moment before fading out.

My favorite explaination for the story is something I've read years ago. The idea would be that Inside is a metaphor for cancer. The boy would be something that get inside a human body and try to evade the guards (white cells) by using the "zombies" worker (cells) to cause a tumor (the blob monstruosity you control at the end). The big machine creating shockwave would be the effect of chimio, good at destroying both cancerous cells and the body. Eventually offices workers (doctors) are able to trick you to fall of the city (chirurgy to remove the tumor). The secret code used to get the second ending could be the cancer resurfacing and being able the shortcut through the body since it has already mutated and reprogramme it this way. Of course this is not the confirm explaination and would love to hear different theory on the story.

I am very inspired after watching this video and hearing what you have to stay about mystery and its relativity to story. My theory behind this is that the kid you play as is being controlled by the person who made all those underground or secret rooms so you can unplug the reach of the other people that control. Sorta like taking away some strings from the puppet master while also finding a way to destroy the kid, with the result of the blob's escape. And the person controlling the kid is probably wanted by the others who control and the people who control knows that the wanted person is controlling the kid, that's why they will shoot you on sight or grab you. Then again, someone already said this. And probably explain it better

I love seeing Inside re-surfing again after all these years. I remember waiting excitedly for it to come out, and being totally charmed by everything _inside_ the game.

Jack thank you so much for paying inside again, its one of my favorite games of all time (as well as a comfort game) and your play through has always been my favorite

also worth mentioning that not only does the player character not have its own free will, but the player doesn't either. you aren't given an option not to use those chicks and the hog and so on to get what you want, you simply have to do it to progress

I think the fact that you step forward nine times when pretending to be controlled is actually pretty meaning in itself. The number nine represents completion without an end, the fulfillment of one thing only to prepare for the next, and the flow of life.
