In France eclectic finds are way cooler than store-bought luxury. It would be embarrassing to say you’d bought everything from a store and that your things don’t have a history.
@fremont1113 жыл бұрын

I mean the space is nice but what is unfortunate is all of these Art studios in Paris being turned in to appartements make it so that Parisian Artists today no longer have studio spaces that are affordable and have to move out of the city and in to abandoned usines etc just to work.
@Lucy-dd7mx3 жыл бұрын
I think people having a place to live in Paris is more important than artists having a studio in Paris. Parisian landlords/property owners are also responding to demand in a city starved for space - keeping studio spaces cheap/un-renovated would come at a cost to them.

My feeling is that the 'pandemic' will enable a shift from this trend. Tons of people are now needing to work from home rather than needing to be centrally placed in small apartments in city centres. People now need their home to double as work space and so be larger. Many are relocating to enable this end, and many highstreet stores are closing. So much of what defined our cities is gonna change, everything is bound to be re-imagined. I follow an entrepreneur in the UK who is onto this change as as opportunity to reopen artists communities in City centres, and a real estate professional in NY who is speaking about the drastic shift in demand from small central spaces to more distant spaces with larger internal space, the attractions and life which drew people to cities has changed.
@SarahSmith-nr2wj3 жыл бұрын
@@Lucy-dd7mx without true creativity in our shared world, everything starts to die the death of soulless, financial function and becomes machine like, rather like a mirror of our ruthless banks and financial systems. The art world has also been curated to fit this model. Of course people need a place to live, but the capitalist machine which has set these structures would rob us of our humanity if left unchecked.
