His first band was not the Shilos. It was the Pacers, then the Legends, which I was a part of along with Jim Stafford and Kent Lavoie. Yes, he had his own room, not really an apartment, and I spent many nights there hanging out. But the go-kart was only in the picture in 1959-60 when he was in the eighth grade. In fact, that's me in the photo you're showing. He got five bucks a week for cleaning the pool. And Lobo was not a band. It was the name Kent used as his stage name.

Thank you Jim for all you do to provide an accurate account of Gram Parsons' younger life. I've been impressed by what a great group of people (most) of his friends were. Friends not only for his life but for the many years that followed.

Both of your Gram Parson videos are now in my top favorite Jordan videos...it's almost like Gram opened some doors for you--meeting the daughter of his 1st wife--then being able to see his apartment at the home in Winter Haven. That unplanned access wasn't just coincidental IMO. 😄

Jim Stafford is from Winter Haven. He’s a country singer who did parody songs like Ray Stevens. Spiders and Snakes is one of his big hits in the 70’s. He’s a really funny fellow. He retired a couple of years ago from Branson Missouri and moved back to Winter Haven. Great video on Gram.

Jim Stafford .... one of my all time favorite musicians ... Saw him back in early 70's at Panhandle State College during his first big hits on the radio. Just Jim, and a bass pedal played with his left foot and a tambourine stomp type tool with his right ... I was thoroughly impressed with his musicianship... and the rest is history .. as they say

Good one Jordan!! I live just down the road from there in Bartow, Fl. Big fan of Gram and The Flying Burrito Brothers. A friend and I went to Derry Down about a year ago and the owners were there getting ready for an event and let us go inside. You DEFINITELY need to go see the inside. It has the original exposed rafters and beams and almost smells like 1960s, in a GOOD way!!

Love your Vlogs! Cool that you checked out Gram's home. I live in Tampa and there is actually a B&B/Hostel here named after him called "Gram's Place". I was friends with Mark Holland who was the original owner who sadly passed away over a decade ago. "Grams Place' was originally intended to be a music related venue that actually had small concerts (Its just an old house that he converted )but Mark wanted it to be a little mecca for musicians and artists of all kinds. It's still open and Mark's brother runs it, but sadly I think they went away from the music theme. P.S. My Cousin Suzanne grew up in Winter Haven and actually went to school with Gram!! - I think he was older than her but she told me he was soo handsome and all the girls had crushes on him and one of her friends actually dated him!! How cool is that!! :)

Hey Jordan. Just started following your channel. If you ever get to Waycross Georgia Look up Hickory Wind Music Store. The owner says he grew up with Gram and says Gram spent some child hood years in Waycross? Don't know much about Gram BUT the music store owner WAS ON AND ON AND ON about Gram And what all he Knew about him. This guy may give you more in-sight on Grams early life and Family History. Also Ronnie Van Zants wife Judy is from Waycross and the music store owner told me where Ronnie and Judy got married. Anyway's Peace Jordan

Spellbinding reportage, of a person who's fire burned the very brightest, for the very shortest, but continues for the very longest, after his passing. His music, and his story will be replayed for as long as people search. Right now it is in its fifth iteration since those original times....We all lead a different path in life, starting from our own unique beginning, but we all end our path at the same final resting place. Perhaps what we really do in life, should be how we are remembered in death, that ways we may all live forever here, we that have all been born, have the capacity , to leave our mark here.....KZbin facilitates this.

They were very friendly! In fact, they said how they found out it was gram's house was one day the lady who lived there was waiting for a ride from her husband I believe she said, and got to talking to a woman there and the lady somehow asked whereabouts she lived. And when she said the street name, the lady said "gram parsons lived on that road at ____ address. The homeowner pulled out her id and showed the lady that was her address, and the lady said "ill give you a ride home just to see gram's house" the homeowners said they became fans of gram as they learned the history of their house..
