Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has replicated 12 Europeans cities in its new lakeside headquarters in the southern Chinese city of Dongguan. The 127-hectare campus is expected to provide office space for 25,000 employees.

I don’t know why people just easily criticize a thing on China. Tokyo tower is a huge copy of Eiffel tower of France, never seen you people judge that. Actually these is just one of many Huawei’s centres almost every the big cities in China has a Huawei centre that incubate for different researches. Don’t take it like a only one.

Tobias I never said it’s pretty. I was talking of “COPY” in comments sections here. This architecture has European styles in a countryside attached to nowhere, not copying from any exact one as well. Japan copied exact the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty in town, but never hear anyone criticize them copying. So obvious double standards.

modern urbanization as we know it today started in Europe, which is why traditional European architecture is just more suited for a more compact setting where you need multistory buildings, Chinese architecture tend to build wide than tall. it's either this or the mundane modernist buildings, or Chineseish buildings that are just modernist buildings with a curved roof slapped on top.

To those of you who said Huawei should've build with Chinese design architecture, well they already have built up dozens of campus with Chinese architectures. So this time I see no wrong in changing it's idea and design with the European one, Huawei tech doesn't limited in China alone it spread across the globe after all.

Although it is remarkable, why not stick with building and refining your own cultural buildings and designs... dont play into the steroetype of copying things too much. Maybe im looking into it too much but I believe since China is coming onto the world stage, it needs to have to stand on its own two feet. People may not understand why. What I know about is Huawei do this because it want to remind its people they MUST do internationalization. One of my friend used to work in Huawei said, after employed for half year, the Chinese employees MUST accept the company send them to work oversea (or will be fired, they have to signed a contract for this). Huawei spends the best effort on internationalization as a Chinese company. Of course China has its culture, but Huawei pick up its own way to do business. It focus on internationalization focus on technology.
