Hughgettes life is chronicled in EMPTY MANSIONS. Suggest you read it. From some sources it seems her father was not a pleasant man. Very sad to me that she was such a recluse but she seemed content BUT demanding. Always great to see beautiful 😍 historic buildings preserved. Too many have been lost due to greed!

Is it just me, or do the exterior walls of Bellosguardo seem overbearing and, to be frank, 'lumpen' compared with the French house shown at 0:33? The latter balances the windows with the walls, and has cornicing and corner pilasters to break up the flat masonry planes. In contrast, Bellosguardo resembles an early 21st century low-rise office building. The interior, in contrast, is far more attractive and soothing to the eye.

....this is not her gift, this is something cooked up in a New York courtroom & opposite of her true intentions. She came every summer until 2007 at which point she fired the caretaker for ignoring her instructions of 30 years earlier when she had seen an Angel with her Mother's face in the cemetery next door! She wrote out her Will in longhand in 1977 leaving everything to her friend of 50 years who knew her Mother & was part of the Miracle she saw, making him her Executor. She had grand plans for all her properties, maintained them for her friend & trusted him to carry them out, but, was thwarted by her own lawyers - not only the crooked private ones but, her trusted corporate attorney's as well it seems. This is all collusion to mask the mendacity of these shysters who prove how risky it is to trust people - even your employees & lawyers! May it please GOD to grant her the righteous mercy & justice she and her sweet family so richly deserve . . .

Tad you don't know what you are talking about.

~ i know exactly what i am talking about thanks. i've only known her & her Mother since i was 5, as they were great friends of my Grandmother. i saw how thrilled she was with the Miracle, how it meant everything to her, and how furious she was when she found out what Jon Douglas had not done as instructed & fired him. She has yet to have her true Will revealed & wishes respected...

I am madam Pierres son my mother knew more than anybody about the life of Ms Clark.

gee, i knew her & her Mother since 1960, my Grandmother knew them since the war. it seems you want to help those who'd have the world believe she spent all those years in hospital, to cheat her. I saw her at her lovely home in Hawaii in 1994 (& her famous neighbor), and in Santa Barbara in 1977, 1980, 2003 & 2007. I speak from knowledge of actual fact, not hearsay & what i say is absolutely true as GOD knows.

Tad, I am interested to learn more. Why didn't her friend fight to get the house?

So when is everybody going to be able to see it? Too bad no one can enjoy the property. But if you let the public in, you know it will be ruined in no time. Even people who pay $1500./ticket can't be trusted. What I predict is that the money will run out. The house will become derelict. And the land will be cleared for condos. All the while, what is there now, will have been preserved for no one.
