The protests raging in Iran primarily target compulsory veiling - but the movement calls for systemic change, according to protester Asal: 'There is a lot of anger hidden in society. ... It's not just a protest. This is the beginning of a revolution'. Protesters risk their lives in demonstrating against the government, with over 200 reportedly killed. This loss of life has fuelled further rage - such as the murder of 16-year old Nika. 'It was supposed to be your birthday today, sweetheart. Bu instead we are celebrating your martyrdom!' - rallying yet tragic words from Nika's mother at her daughter's funeral. Worldwide, many women are also taking part in demonstrations: 'It is to show our solidarity with the Iranians, who have been on the streets for more than 22 days for their basic rights', explains Switzerland-based Iranian artist Shiva.
