I was born in 86 and raised in South Jackson, right off of Rainey Rd on Upper Darby Rd down the street from where the Sunflower used to be. That whole area used to be bustling with business, the people were good to each other, and it was safe. We left in the late 90s because the crime picked up and started moving in. Gunshots and deaths every week. It was such a peaceful side of the city.

What most people here seem to miss in the brothers commentary is the causes of all he described. No one commented here about the lack of opportunity in the state for black residents. He stated that there are no major supermarkets, no major restaurant chains, no major companies for people to earn decent wages, a population fed pharmaceuticals as children etc. What he didn't mention is the fact that the state historically has lead the nation in undereducated black people as well as high unemployment and incarceration of its black citizens. However access to drugs and weapons are readily available. Not of this is by coincidence. It's all by design orchestrated by historically republican led governments and policies. It's how slavery has evolved in southern states like Mississippi. The nation legacy media refuses to report on these facts to this very day. They instead report on the drug use and violence while ignoring things like voter suppression that has existed in the state since the abolishment of slavery. Yet the white only republican party has been in power since that time as well. What is being done in the state to reverse these trends? The answer is nothing with no plans in the state to change it in the near future. The people highlighted in this video have no representation. Those people suffer so that the white well off residents can prosper. Yes the video is sad but until the things I mentioned are addressed the cycle will continue and guys like this brother won't be able to change it. If the people people who find it sad don't take their prayers past just that and to the state's leadership, then it's all in vain. Anyone reading this knows it to be true. The question is what will you do about it? I know the answer but pray to be proven wrong, but my prayers too will go in vain.

It's good to talk about change but be a part of the change, sometimes the change begins within you. What can you contribute to the community to bring about jobs and higher education? What can you do to break this chain and bring attention to the areas you mentioned in this paragraph? It takes everyone to be united to break strong holds and barriers that we have inherited, not knocking each other down but unity. That's one way to help re-develop our black communities.

have you lost touch with reality. Jackson's city council is 2 white (1 a republican) and the rest are black(all democrat), the mayor is democrat. Jackson has not done a single thing right yet they keep putting Kenneth Stokes right back in there. If you don't like the results, first maybe research and figure out how different parties' cities are faring, then look at each individual candidate's background, then vote competent people into place. Jackson is a spitting image of Democratic run Baltimore, Chicago, Memphis, Los Angeles, St. Louis.

I grew up in South Jackson. It was a bustling part of town. Most of the people in that area got old and died or went into a home. Their houses became available for sale cheap or rented and the crime swept in quick. Everything decent was run out in a matter of years. By the late 90’s that part of town was becoming like the west side of town. Now it’s pretty much the whole town has gone down.

I was just saying the same thing. Like it smells like meth, we don’t have any food chains, we don’t have any grocery stores, he’s a target, the streets are mad he’s getting the kids out of it huh? His whole story was cap we have several restaurants and grocery stores and the streets don’t want to be in the streets. The fact that he exaggerated the conditions to the point where the entire city looks like skid row is wild. Let’s talk about how the wealthy in Mississippi joined with the government to put Jackson exactly where it is. You allow people to come in and buy property in the city and not pay taxes, you allow the state to own property in the city and not pay taxes, you put moles in office to steer incoming business to the surrounding areas, you put your people in position over the educational system and they then proceed to rip it apart with new policies and “necessary consolidations”. To make matters worse they deny the last four mayors any financial support to make repairs to the infrastructure not to mention our governor is doing everything in his power to make sure Jackson doesn’t succeed and the cost of gas being higher in the impoverished communities than the affluent communities. When you create an environment of hopelessness that hopelessness transforms the people into survivors those survivors then create factions in those factions they are the law. All of Jackson knows it but most of us can’t quite put our finger on it. This guy and many many others are trying to cure the symptoms when the actual problem is still wreaking havoc on our communities.

The only thing that stops a bad man with a gun is a good man with a gun. You need the gun shows! It's not a gun problem, it's a people problem. Alaska has MANY guns but lower crime because the people have a better mindset. Guns are just tools that can be used for good or bad just like a knife.

Man stfu. Your god worship of a gun is not even relevant to the issue at hand. No one is crying about some stupid ass political issue about your guns. You’re right that the gun within itself is not the problem- DESTITUTION, DESOLATION, and DEPRESSION are the problems. But as you can see from this brother, they’re not lying around crying as victims- although it’s UNEQUIVOCAL that a lot of historical factors influenced the situation to become what it is- they’re taking the responsibility to improve their own circumstances. Do you want to HELP? If not take that dumb ass political argument about guns on. We are dealing with real problems here. Not your Fox News talking points

This is a direct result of not being taught who we truly are descendants from the 12 lost tribes of Israel and what our true purpose is, and that was to be the Priest and Prophets of God and show the world his laws, statutes, and commandments. God predicted in the bible that this would be our outcome throughout every generation and that's why you see this same condition of our people not just in America but all over the world. He has cast us away. It's great what these Brothers are doing but it has to go farther by showing and teaching these young generations our true identity that way they can turn back to our God and he'll show us mercy in the lands of our captivity. People will say there's plenty of so called "Black" churches in the black community. But what they don't realize is those churches are only continually spreading the lies and false doctrines of European mainly Roman false Christiantiy that was given to us during slavery. We couldn't read or write so we had to go off the lies that were being taught us and we still continue on today in those same lies instead of just reading the book God gave to us about our history. And that book is the bible. Like I said until we turn back to our God and turn away from these Idols and idol worship like Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, our conditions will not change, until our King Christ Jesus returns, who is also an Israelite and is also black. Isaiah 51 20 your sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the Lord, the rebuke of your God. Micha 7 2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.
