Interested in books about the architecture and history of the Dakota, Friar Park, and Tittenhurst Park? I've written a bunch about them. You can find all of them on Amazon and elsewhere. Buying my books helps support my research and productions. Thank you! tinyurl.com/DakotaHistoryCardinal

I’ve lived most of my life in California about 45 min in OC from this building. It’s so interesting to hear about the history. When I heard JD say his ex wife’s sister and friends lived rent free in the penthouses I was amazed. Wow what a kind person who probably get taken advantage of by people around him.

@@timmann743 well said tim my exact thoughts. What’s worse is after all the providing a home for these leeches rent free you think they would come out of the wood works and testify in his defence (the least they could do and they know ambers allegations are a crock) like his friend Issac did. I also think issac needs to start paying Johnny rent. His testimony in johnnys defence as loyal and touching as it was he is a grown ass man, Who is in a position where he can afford to and no longer need to take advantage of johnnys generosity.

Johnny lived a charmed life…Until he met Heard. I feel bad for the poor guy, and hope he regains prior success
@queenofwater8783
@queenofwater8783 2 жыл бұрын
His childhood was not charmed. It is those childhood wounds, left unattended, that probably led to his abuse of alcohol and drugs. And, more importantly, to him choosing a woman with the same mental illnesses his abusive mother had that has allowed him to play it out again in his older age. IF he takes this opportunity to confront the wounds and do the hard work, he will grow. He is a great actor, but I’m more concerned in his healing.

@Nokomisclub - I love Johnny Depp but this is what happens when you are unfaithful. He cheated on Vanessa Paradis the mother of his children with Amber. If Johnny were to be a female the cheating would be the only thing people would be talking about, but since he is a man no one is talking about it. Guys always get away with cheating but women don't, they are vilified. This situation with him and Amber is the perfect example of the grass looking greener on the other side. Now at the trial he keeps mentioning how good of a woman Vanessa was, at the end karma always gets you.

Actually not true. In order for him to be attracted to anyone that was problematic in his life, he had to be conditioned as a child - of the acceptance thereof. This is the case for anyone. He says his mother was very abusive and his father allowed the abuse. Both parents play a role in the outcome of future beings. Whether absent in a child’s life - or not. All of these “celebrities” (celebrate) are just - beings. They just make it to a point where they are allowed to hoard all the resources that should be proportionally shared by everyone on the earth!

they sure look beautiful, but they are not made for modern day's comfort or updated idealism. They use "ventilation tower", not the most effective way to circulate air. Philosophically, they cover the actual steelwork behind, which is considered as "covering the truth", or fake, in a modern sense. And with WW2, it's time for people to move on into a revolutionary and optimistic mid-century style, so yeah bye bye Art Deco

Excellent presentation. Thank you so much. There is a similar building in Chicago with elongated American Indians on the exteriors beautiful Pilasters. The former Catalog Company Sears & Roebuck was located in downtown Chicago. My Sears & Roebuck Home was built in the Art Deco Era. It was my grandparents home and I am the Homes proud Steward. The home is titled “The Windsor” named after the late Duke of Windsor who became, for a brief time, King Edward of England who abdicated the throne of England for the woman he loved. That is how Queen Elizabeth’s father ascended to the throne of England. Many books have been written about this English Royal love story that rocked the walls of Parliament and the nation. Many movies have been made about “The Woman He Loved “. Wonderful history!

Those old houses that people bought from catalogues were great. I owned a house built in 1920. In the basement we could see the numbers on the beams for the builders when it was pieced together. Yellow pine moldings. French doors. Glass door handles. 10 ft ceilings. Pocket windows with counterweights in the walls. They don’t make them like that anymore! I should zoom up to Chicago and check out some other historic places besides where Dillinger was shot. 😉

@nanwilder2853 2 жыл бұрын
The years of drug and alcohol addiction alone, would account for his bad judgment, though it’s not that simple... Like Amber, he’s an AD/H/D’er with co-occurring mental health issues. They BOTH knew what a toxic couple they were, and still got married. At least she had the inexperience of a 20-something ; he was old enough to know better, though hobbled by arrested development. Even though he’s now sober, Depp strikes me as a spoiled, narcissistic A-hole. As for the Eastern Columbia, it looks to me like they stripped the Art Deco right out of it... The “Penthouse” interiors are generically industrial-looking, dominated by horrible red stairs, and devoid of architectural heart or soul. Remodeled into 147 condos (with a great exterior), it’s really just a glorified, overpriced money pit.

You have to remember, his kids were younger when he purchased the PH's (before he met Amber) so im sure some of the decorating and aesthetic was done with his children in mind. For example: the yellow Wall Mural painted with cartoonish characters. Plus he probably purchased multiple penthouses as an investment for his children and their future families when they got older. Its a shame he sold ALL of them because of the nightmarish violence that transpired there.

11mil for all the penthouses? He had 5 I think. 5 units for US11million, that's like pretty cheap considering it's a penthouse at a central location.

To jd needs to sell all houses etc Live one place nicely but he really dont need all those houses wasted money. He might recover from this if he straightens up sells all excess and begins again. Otherwise he is going down

Isn't that the building where Lucifer the series was used for? Mean the outside building shots?

Looks like a place where "Edward Scissorhands" would live. Since age 25, Depp progressed into the underworld of Sun-Neptune. He was a really cool dude during the "21 Jump Street" period with Richard Grieco. Now, he's just a little weird. Nonetheless, '63 forever, baby.

Beautiful building yes, but in a dump of a neighborhood. Working in DTLA for 30 years, the homeless population has exploded. It’s awful!

Johnny, is just an amazingly kind soul. I hope Johnny, finds a soulmate.🙏♥️😘😇🌹💯 Johnny, needs to find a woman that will truly be his soulmate truly not care about money or lavish things. Trust me I see what money does to certain kinds of people and it truly makes them wonder does she truly love me for me, or my money? I’ve gotten these questions before & when the darkest moments hit I say forget your wallet leave it home? Get your truck 🛻 make it a little dirty. Or your motorcycle? All these things will tell someone if they care & are willing to get you dinner, takeout. Trust me it really works!♥️🙏😘🌹😇💯😍🥰😉

That is true. Some of the wealthiest people I know dress and live and drive cars that … well … no one would know they are rolling in dough. It’s better that way. It’s those with the jewelry and expensive cars that are often the unhappiest.

Yes. I couldn’t agree with you more. Do to the nature of my confidentiality agreement’s. I will tell you that (1) of my dearest clients asked me “Nannie, what am I doing wrong when he was pretty much going through what Johnny’s going through. I mentioned just be yourself” dress plan just in a t-shirt blue jeans & sneakers. Bring cash no blk. Amex. Let someone love you for you not your money, cars, houses. It took a little while but he is married again & happy. 😇🙏 I truly believe that there’s a rainbow 🌈 for all of us including me.😊 All the best too you! Be safe.🙏

Just reflect on JD`s kindness and generosity, he has such a loving caring nature, he has faults as we all do but he certaunly isn´t a wife beater, and all his previous wives testify to that as well. So however the end result is from the court, he is a hero for abused men out there including the ones that were murdered by their wives or partners. Abuse is Abuse whatever the gender and should be punishable on an equal footing.
