I worked at a Kmart in Northern California from 2019-2020 and by then almost all electronics had been phased out. We just had one aisle with small tech accessories and some dvds, that was about it. Thank you for the video and the tour of essentially the last full size Kmart left in the U.S!

To answer your question Kmart had an electronics department back in the day when they had many stores. I don't remember the year but they merged with sears. It's really good to see that they are still hanging on to this location. Back in the day this location was once a CALDOR. Unfortunately CALDOR went out of business in 1999.

"Gotta Watch Wapner!" I Always think of Rain Man whenever I think of K Mart. It always amazes me how bigger the store, and how much more variety American stores have. Fun fact of the day, We get SCREWED for variety here in Canada. We had K mart in Canada until 1998 when they sold their locations to Hudson's Bay Company but Walmart is the current comparison. My mom works in the vision centre and even the vision centre in America is 4 times larger. Thanks for the tour!

This video showed up in my recommended videos. I worked at Kmart in the mid 1980s when I was in high school. I know for a fact that your shopping cart said Kmart in the middle of the handle and it came off from use through the years. Sears was bought out by Kmart (most people think it's the other way around) so that's why they sell Sears appliances. I just subbed to both of your channels. I like your content.

I watched your video and it’s very sad to see hardly no one in the Kmart back in the 70s and 80s that Kmart would’ve been Full of people I will sorely miss going to shop at Kmart and eating at the cafeteria and going to the blue light specials
@spclanghorne44945 ай бұрын
This was quite an important Kmart in its heyday. Martha Stewart, who had a product line with Kmart, used to shop at this store regularly, and Justin Bieber was spotted here a few times. Until last year, the store was the only Kmart with a blue sign. This, and the unique facade to the store where because of strict building codes from Bridgehampton that prevented the usual look of Kmart. The TJMaxx next door used to have a blue logo as well.

So cool .our K-Mart closed in 2018. Put I haven't been in one since my grandson was a baby in 2014, when I bought him his 1st Thomas the tank set. The hot water bottle is a camping shower. You fill it with water and the sun heats it up. I am Tracks and relax on your other channel.

I haven't been to a Kmart since the early 2010s, when Missoula, Montana still had theirs open. It closed in 2012. The store in Hamilton, Montana (which is 45 minutes from Missoula) remained open until early 2022 and I honestly wish I had gone into that store at least once--it even had the pre-1990 logo at the front!

It’s sad how far Kmart has fallen. Back when I lived in Meadville, my Kmart used to be part of a mall, and it was the only part of the mall that survived for many years, until it eventually closed down. By the way, the black tender engine at 5:48 is named Hiro. He made his debut in 2009, as part of a movie called Hero of the Rails. At that time, Thomas started to appear in full CGi; the previous seasons were filmed with scale train models. You don’t see much Thomas merchandise anymore because Mattel has been horribly mistreating the franchise since late 2017.

My youngest was born in 2002 and I'd say by the time he was growing out of the toys and show, it had started going downhill fast. Then there was also the terrible movie where Alex Baldwin literally flips the bird at the audience.

I think most Kmarts phased out electronics shortly before they closed most stores. Also given the area of the Hamptons, this is a vacation area hence all the bikes, kayaks, coolers, summer toys, etc. Perhaps electronic items wouldn’t sell well.

That particular store looks like it was originally a WT Grant, of which Kmart took over many of the locations after they closed. The clue is the lighting fixture layout in the retail sales floor area, where rather than rows of continuous strip fluorescent fixtures, they used sets of two 2X4 recessed fixtures side by side. I did a relamp of a store like this in Southern California, where the store manager told me the store was a WT Grant takeover. That store closed around 2018 if I am not mistaken.

There are actually only 2 Kmarts left in the US; this one and one in Miami. In true “Kmart doesn’t give AF” fashion, the Kmart store locator hasn’t been updated in the last year.
