Your Thai is getting better and better; watching you ordering Khanom Krok is phenomenal! :D And you understand a local dialect somehow, which is fantastic! The locals in the south eat Khanom Krok with sugar since they do not mix the sugar at first. The atmosphere of the morning market is nothing comparable. You both were in the right spot and at the right time! The nuts are called Jengkol (เนียง). Anyway, Ellis and Alicia, Happy Songkran Day!

Oh ! You have missed another type of grilled chicken at that fried chicken shop . I mean the sticked grilled chicken (on the right in the vid) with some red curry paste on it . Baked chicken enameled with red sweeten curry paste is the best recipe ! It's called " kai kor-lae "- ไก่กอและ . " Kor- lae " is Melayu language , it means rolling . For when baking we have to turn the stick front - back all the times . I love watching your videos very much . They remind me my former memories of the south l've left . Big thanks .

She's making knanom krok the traditional way. That is my favorite breakfast to eat when living there, especially on the weekend going to the market early morning. I use a hack to make it at home now in California. The sugar with it is new to me, eat without that. When I was living in Pattaya back then, it was a fishing/seaside village a little bigger than Sichon where evrybody knows your name. The beaches were my playground after school, mostly locals. The best childhood I could ask for and the beaches and view! Thanks, now I will put Sichon on my list and Khanom too.

We stayed at a little cabin on the beach about 200m up the beach from that market last year for a week, just opposite the Muslim school. We loved the jok and roti for brekky at one of the stalls at the morning market each day. The kanom krok had a beautiful smoky taste to them too. Such a magic place.

Chicken topped with sauce. It's called Gai Kor Lae. It's chicken topped with spices and coconut milk. It is a local food of the southern people. especially Muslims in the South The fishing boats of the people in the south, they call it the Kor Lae boat as well.😁😁🙏🙏

Some area at Southern of Thailand, local people utilize only small boat for their fishing as day by day basis (not high volume for commercial). Therefore, their output are fresh without preservatives.

Sweeted fish you say "pa wan" ,that 's wrong tone , thai people think that's the whale 🐋🐳 . You must say "wan" in hightest tone . And then it mean the sweet thing in thai word. Thai has five tones. ภาษาไทยมีวรรณยุกต์ 5 เสียง เสียงสามัญ = the flat tone, the middle tone This tone stays flat throughout. Sometimes it drops down at the end just a little bit. เสียงเอก = the down tone, the low tone This tone starts low and stays low or goes even lower. เสียงโท = the falling tone, the mountain tone This tone starts high and then comes down. เสียงตรี = the high tone, the up tone This tone starts high and keeps going up higher, but it can drop down a little at the end. เสียงจัตวา = the rising tone, the valley tone This tone starts low or at the mid tone and then comes up at the end. You must say "wan" in the rising or the valley tone.
