I love all four of you and the video looked like you all had fun! I only listened to the beginning of it, couldn't watch the "meat" section, but I watched the rest and I have to say that Kevin, Juliana, and Martin were brave to eat the scorpions, for me no bueno. Now I'm going to watch Kevin and Jenny's channel!

That meat section was rough to edit 😅😅😅 we don’t blame you for skipping it! So glad you enjoyed out video though ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love Mercado de San Juan. Love going to get some European meats and cheeses and of course get the baguettes and other sandwiches along with some wine. It is one of those markets that could have been like (can still be) as iconic as other Latin American markets like San Telmo in Buenos Aires, Mercado Municipal in Sao Paolo (with their incredible mortadella sandwiches), Mercado del Puerto in Montevideo and Mercado Central in Santiago de Chile! The history of why so many stalls with “embutidos” (cold cuts) and cheeses is because the area around there was first settled by migrants who came from Spain, Germany, France and Italy and Jews as well who would buy their products here and even though now those families have mainly moved to other neighbourhoods in the city, they still go there and even restaurants get their merchandise there because of the quality of the imports. Some Spanish still live along Calle Lopez and you still find some paella spots, Spanish cantinas, Spanish cafes and nearby the iconic original El Moro churrería! But now they also cater to Chinese since Chinatown has been there for a while too. But the niche has been the exotic meats and insects/critters that are mainly catered to tourists. But in my opinion, it’s still about the quality meats and cheeses!
@TouristtoLocal4 ай бұрын
The quality of the cheese and meat here really is impressive. We are so glad you shared more about why there is so much Spanish influence in this market…that’s something we were wondering about!!! And thanks for calling out those other similar styled markets across Latin America. You may be seeing some of these in some upcoming videos 😉
