You are very negative about Lebanon, last week you talked about the rapid gunfire over your head during the celebrations, this week you've talked about it again, it happened get over it, it doesn't look good to the outside world, but it's their tradition, you don't like it, leave, it's nice that you are showing the world about lebanon, but keep out the politics.

Hey, i’m Lebanese currently studying in Lebanon. My dream was to stay here my whole life. But after everything that happened, I just want to leave. But it’s technically impossible because of the economic crisis and all the money in the banks that “disappeared”. It’s really horrible living in a country where you never know when a bomb or missile might hit your home and leave everyone dead. I’m hopeless honestly and I know that with our political “leaders” no progress is possible. Just trying to keep a positive mindset and continue studying even though it has been the hardest year of my life I really thank you for coming here again even after everything that happened and thank you for shedding a light on our situation.

now Lebanon is cheap for those who have dollars (back in 2019 1 dollar =1500LL, now in 2020 1 dollar =8500LL in the black market ), so it is a good option for tourists, the increase in prices affected the locals who get paid in Lebanese currency, for example, 1 year ago the residential rent for a standard apartment was 500$ per month now the rent is about 100$ or less. all this happened because of the dollar shortage.
@michelnaouss7483 жыл бұрын
Yes but during the pandemic tourism stopped. We as people living in Lebanon are suffering from the drop in the lira. 1500LL used to be a dollar. Now its 9000LL for a dollar. The people living here are still getting in Lebanese Lira and not in USD.

I think that you think you're saying something nice but in reality it comes off as very patronizing. I often find that terms like "positive people" is just a pretty transparent proxy term for "I think they're uncivilized and unintelligent and I have nothing else complementary to say about them so I default to vague adjectives and expressions with essentially no bar whatsoever for evidence like 'full of life,' and 'vibrant.' " In my experience, people who say things like that typically say exactly the same things about any other country they feel is beneath them, because to that person there's no difference between any of those non-European/non-North American/non-Northeast Asian countries. Never mind the incredible things invented by the Lebanese people historically and all of their modern accomplishments in areas that are considered to be "traditional" measures of success (which inevitably far oustrip the rate of whomever is the native population of their new country), a.k.a. the types of things these patronizing people often assume they must lag far behind in. It's also people who say those types of things who, upon hearing about how strong Lebanon's economy was in the mid-20th century leading up to the Lebanese Civil War in 1975, will reflexively go "oh because of the oil, right?" Even though there's never been any oil to speak of in Lebanon and the entire economy was built on the back of the professional sector (doctors/lawyers/bankers in particular), they assume that Lebanese people are too simple/stupid/backwards to have ever built anything for themselves, despite the fact that if it weren't for their invention of the alphabet they wouldn't have ever been able to write down any of their comments...

Well, yes, but I mean, he makes swords, though. I think he might be enjoying the irony - living in a bit of bitterness. As a human being, I believe every situation’s story is nuanced, beyond belief. I think it is somewhat elitist to believe that people are different than I am, simply because their circumstances may be. Our circumstances influence us in many ways that are also subconscious. Resiliency is found in the solution based responses, rather than the fear based reactions. Fear is present in the minds of people from wealthier countries when they visit more impoverished countries. The fear that this could just as easily be them. Sometimes the reaction to fear is to treat people like victims when they don’t want to be. This is just as destructive as any explosion or war because it makes them feel demeaned, and incapable.

Wow, food prices have always been a significant factor to realize whether the people are doing fine or not. Very interesting shots again, thank you very much for sharing!

Food prices are artificially low because the central bank is still subsidizing them. We are paying out of our pockets so that tourists can eat for cheap. It is a system that is destroying itself.

I left Lebanon after the explosion and came to Australia, it was so hard to see what happened in Lebanon, in my home country, and it was so hard to see what the Lebanese people went through, but they are so strong. All the love to Lebanon ♥️♥️
