Amazing! I took my drivers test in a 59 4 door V8 3 speed manual. It was my Moms car. This was in 1976! It had 83,000 on the odometer then. She traded it in on a 1976 MonteCarlo. I begged her not too! Her car was a daily driver and in very good condition! Never wrecked, immaculate interior! It was white with black and white interior or red and white. She had the Monte Carlo til she passed in 2003. Before the 59 she had a 1937 Chevrolet. It was my Grandfathers. Your. Car is amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Smiled when I read your post, as I too, passed my drivers test driving my mom’s ‘59 Impala Sport Sedan. It had the beautiful multi-shade blue interior just like this one, but only the 235 six, three on the tree and without power steering and power brakes. The officer complemented me at the end, noting that “You really know how to handle this car!” Hats off to the guy who has done a great job on preserving this one!

Very impressive & with all the rare options I grew up in the 1960's when '59 Chevy's were literally everywhere & back then it was a free car show I 'd look at dozens & dozens of '59 Impala's at parking lots & driveways. In 1977 my first car was a '59 2 dr Impala in mint condition with the 283 powerglide with power steering & brakes & factory 6 way power front seat. 74,000 original miles . I got into a terrible horrible accident in 1977 the car was a present from my mother for $1,600 & not worth fixing for $2000 back then. Cheaper to buy a better one. I gave it away for a 100 bucks. I was driving my '59 Impala when I heard the news of Elvis' death. Then the '59 Chevy's always reminded me of Elvis dying. I bought a 2nd '59 2 dr Impala in mint condition for $1375 in 1979 it had the 348 turboglide 62,000 original miles no power options. My 2nd '59 was not as exciting to me like my first one & a year later I gave it away for $600. I came close to buying another '59 2 dr Impala in mint condition for $1,200 in 1980 but I passed & walked away. It was getting old buying the same car & I took the '59 Chevy's for granted & I could buy one cheap anytime. In the meantime I had lots of other classics '56 & '57 Chevy's, 55 Olds, & '56 Buick Conv. & '59 Cadillac & '59 Ford Skyliner. I had 2 '60 Impala convertibles in 1983 & 2014, the one in '83 had a six cylinder not too desirable for an Impala. i gave it away for $800. 'I changed cars like I changed my socks looking for that initial thrill & buzz I got from my first '59. The 2nd "60 Impala Convert had a 348 turboglide & power steering & brakes very desirable for an Impala paid $38,000 & sold it for $41,600 in 2015 Finally I was ready for another '59 2 dr Impala in mint condition in 1998 I had to finance it for $11,500 much to my surprise after all these years the '59 Chevy's were finally desirable cash cows. I was a teenage kid in the 1970's & I didn't buy '59 Chevy's for an investment I just liked the body style & cheap & affordable. I want another '59 Impala before I die I want it to be my first & last car. I'll even settle for a 4 door. In 1977 before I wrecked my first '59 Impala if I wasn't driving it I used to stare at it for hours & hours from every angle inside & out. My favorite thing was at night looking at the tail lights turned on it was an eerie sight. I'm so obsessed with '59 Chevy's they make my heart race & gives me goosebumps. The '59 Chevy's are my "CHRISTINE".. "You don't know what you got until it's gone ". "You don't miss your water until the well is dry ". So true I take things for granted too much even the '59 Chevrolet's I appreciate them more than ever. If I get another 'one I'm keeping it. In 1977 I was 17 & a young man in his 20's saw my '59 impala & was impressed by it & advised me & said "You don't see too many '59 Chevy's anymore & I think you should hang onto this car it'll be a collectors item someday it''ll go up in value". Guess what.. he was right.

I wonder why there were spotlights in civilian cars in the 1950's, maybe early 60's. I understand the reason for the lights being on law enforcement vehicles but why they were installed on regular cars. Did regular drivers want them or have a good reason for installing spotlights on their cars? Somebody please explain this to me because I'm puzzled about the spotlights.

Why were spotlights an accessory for part of the 50s? What was the inspiration for them? Seems only police cars usually had them. Was this a fad from some popular tv show of that era or some movie? Also, power window controls were usually on the wrap around dash near the door seam on the 57-60 GM models. I always wondered why they placed them there for those years and not the traditional position on the door from years prior and after.
