That is awesome that we get to see the “behind the curtain” of your life. It is important to see this since so many vloggers are not showing their lifestyle. That $80 a month is a great deal and the best part is that by having a smaller place, you only have room for a practical life….with nothing you don’t need.

Amazing living space for $80 a month. We put in a 1 hp air conditioner in our living room 2 years ago, but your right it runs 100 percent of the time. I just told my wife to go over to the store and have them put in a 2 hp this week an early Christmas present to us.

Watched entire video .. thanks for sharing. My wife and I built a mini home back in 2019, prior to the Covid Lockout in Guimaras (island next to Iloilo) that is a pretty much the same size, if not smaller. I'm still in the California, but we'll be there by November this year. I've been pretty nervous about living longer than a vacation stay. I look forward going though your massive catalog of videos ... over 1,400 ... incredible. Can't promise to watch them all obviously, but I'll pick through them surely.

I'm from Iloilo and I'm moving there next month after working for 35 years here in NYC. Guimaras is beautiful and only 20-30 mins ferry ride from Iloilo. A nice place to spend a weekend if you're tired of city life in Iloilo. I'm excited to the next chapter of my life in the Philippines.

I agree with the 2.0 hp air con. My fiancée lives in LILoan which is northeast of Cebu and didn’t have an air con downstairs. There are a lot of LG products and the choice was 1.5 hp or 2.0 hp. We decided the 1.5 hp would be running all the time and would wear out the motor and compressor more quickly. The decision was based on what my supervisor told me a long time ago : “Don’t send a boy to do a man’s job”.😂

You can be very surprised how much space you can have with the proper storage solutions. It's not just floor space but wall space from floor to ceiling that can increase your capacity in a small space. A few tall shallow cabinets can be used as pantries with heavier items down low and dry goods up on higher shelves. A folding step stool is perfect for so many situations and can be put out on the back patio in a corner somewhere. I've seen some wild colors in the philippines for interior and exterior paint and it's true that some colors can be very calming and easy on the eyes. They did a study in prisons and found that yellow seems to create a calm environment.

That's a nice cozy place for 1 expat but when your gf moves in with her stuff it's going to be tight. Nice to have the cabana for an outdoor spot but I didn't see the outdoor kitchen. It's funny to see the expats living in GBC the "bubble" or other enclaves where they won't make any adjustments in a foreign country.

I’ll be shopping for a place to live, when I get there. Since I’m now officially retired, as of yesterday, my initial trip (12/30-01/24) can be extended for an extra 30+ days, and I might as well find a place for my (soon-to-be) Wife and step-Daughter and I to live. And then I’ll know where we’ll be living when I permanently move there in June. We’re not looking for a huge place, but hopefully more than so many of the 50 sqm places we’ve found. If you’re in that space for P4500/month, that leaves a lot of hope of finding a 2 bedroom for P20K, or less? Thanks for the tour, Steve 👍 God bless🙏

Hello, those East Coast accents I’m from the Midwest we have a ridiculous accent and we don’t even realize . You said when you open the refrigerator that you have a “Coca-cōler” in there. It’s funny down south it would be a cold drink here we’d say a pop. I’ve never heard of Coca-Cola called that before. 👍 Great call on the air conditioner !!! My brother-in-law was the AC and heating guy up in the Midwest. He always said keep the air condition on and keep everything cool don’t shut it off keep it running and get a bigger unit than what you need so it doesn’t work so hard. It will be cheaper in the long run, then turning it off and then cooling everything in the house over and over and over just leave it at one set temperature. Let it fluctuate a couple degrees during the day so if you don’t need it so cold during the day just bump the temp up a little bit not much just a little bit couple degrees. Then things will cool down in the evening way quicker. Those type of units are the way to go instead of the window units. 👍 The neck, air conditioner in the ionizers or something new to me thanks for telling us about them. And I have a pair of bone conducting headphones. I’ve had them for about six months now they’re amazing they take a little getting used to at first my ears would take a little bit with the base. I wear them at work all the time I could answer phone calls with zero disturbance background noise to the person I’m talking to. The pair I bought goes on sale once in a while during holidays down to $124 from time to time I paid 145 and then about a month later they went on sale for 124. They start out at about 199. they’re absolutely amazing. I wore them the other day during a laser back pain laying on the table listening to the headphones for 45 minutes took the board out of laying there. And you can still hear your surroundings just as long as you don’t crank them up too loud. And they really don’t get too loud. They’re just nice! The brand I have are called shockz I think that’s how they spell it. I got the model called pro run. They come in different colors. I just bought the black I can’t say enough about them one of the best things I own.

I bought a Daikin in Thailand about 6 months ago. I found once I figured out the size I needed 12,400btu I was shopping for features (anti mold) using the website rather than SEAR rates (which was all the local sales people knew anything about). Base unit no anti mold, mid units had anti mold and the top units added anti mold and wifi. SEARS rates changed from like 20 to 27 to 32 but only running it a couple hours a night I didn't really care about that. Anyway, I love my Daikin unit.

That place is much too small for me but for certain people could probably tolerate it Filipino style. Not a place a younger guy would take a girl home from a date but for a retiree who wants to be secluded and minimal then it could work. Air conditioning and good toilet system along with proper infrastructure to keep snakes and bugs out is a must. You get what you pay for.

Why wouldn't you take your girl home to this place? I sure as hell would.

@@patrickmunneke8348 Because guys with a little PP think they need a big house, otherwise the girl will never see anything larger than a stubby pencil.

@@KevinVenturePhilippines nah I am 6'4 and 34 y/o and I would feel in a shoebox size there. No matter where you are in world these places under $100 a month are pretty much you get what you pay for. Even in Hong Kong they have these places I stayed in for one night and I was done after. A lot of these places are poorly built, not much security from insects and things like snakes. Maybe a single older person who's limited funds looking for a bed can tolerate but definitely not the general population. With more than one person way too small.

Is the air that bad Steve where you are or do you have allergies? Is that why you have the devices that ionize air? I think your home is amazing and particularly for the low rent! Thanks for the tour.

I see one downside.....if he's a foreigner in PH there is no way he's paying 80 a month for all that area. May be 800 a month is more realistic.

@@highclassbum2538 Maybe in an upper class yuppie area, even then that's not realistic...I have friends that I grew up with there and they tell me the same as the show says.

Nice but way too small for me. Sorry, but I love a big space. That’s just me.
