Tip jar: paypal.me/AskZac
After my past Mostortion episode, John Lomas, the designer contacted me. When preparing that episode, I had not been able to track him down. Recently, we spoke on the phone, and I was able to get "The Rest Of The Story" on this Nashville favorite. Also, I wanted to keep up the pick and finger exercises with a couple of Atkins/Travis licks I learned from my "Guitar Dad," Pat Grogan.

@@AskZac Zac I love it. Not been able to put it down. The neck feels like it is 50 years old and the Ellis PU's are great. I have been playing through my Victoria Tweed Deluxe and that seems like a good marriage.Again thanks for all your help. I will take you and Dan to lunch when we get to the other side of Covid 19.

@@AskZac I once also owned 2 of these in the 90ies. killer low gain od's, very nice. Now use a Greer Lightspeed or Barber Gain Stage, and sometimes just a Dynacomp Script or a JHS Pulp 'n Peel (an Orange Squeezer clone). I saw Daniel Lanois use 2 Mostortions in series live.

Man, these Mostortion pedals have really increased in price & have proven to be quite rare. It seems like nearly all pre-1990’s Ibanez Tube Screamer variants have gone through the roof in recent years. Unfortunately, vintage pedals are prone to wear & tears, as well as, failure. Those seeking to drop big bucks on these pedal & turn them into work horses, should consider carrying a back-up. Many of these components were not intended to last 20+ years. Good luck to those who dare, I have fallen prey to big ticket vintage pedals, only to find they can be finicky & require maintenance much like old amps. 🙁

Yeah the name is what killed sales for these pedals. I remember when they came out with their cheesy pac-man looking knobs and that Mostortion name. I thought it looked ugly and the name implied to me that it was a super heavy pedal as in Most Distortion. Didn't these guys do any market research before they let it out the door?
