The immediacy of his work, you don’t know what you are doing, you take a chance, It’s embarrassing, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. You don’t have that security. No planning, just discipline. Curiosity and perseverance.

Rauschenberg can barely put a coherent sentence together. I’ve always liked his work but he appears to be either drunk or stoned here.
