I think the Firefly is great. It's very difficult to buy high quality small cars and keep the price low at the same time. Much more difficult than building big ass SUVs. 4.7 meters turn radius - WOW! This car at that price will be without competition for longer time. Looking forward to it.

Marcel, I miss few information from NIO day. 1. If Nio will implement own chip in March on ET9, when plan implement tham to others cars which could improve profitability? 2. What is NIO’s connection with new CATL swap station? 3. Will firefly useing CATL or new NIO’s swap stations? 4. If CATL starting with new standard of swap station, my prediction is that all car producers will select CATL instead NIO what could be NIO problem for profitability and additional revenew. My opinion is that answere of above questions will show us what we could expect of NIO SP in 2025.

I don't quite get NIO's intention to design a car to compete against the Smart or Mini. They should compete against BYD Dolphin or XPeng Mona

NIO or Firefly could never compete with BYD on a low margin car, let's be realistic, there not much money to make selling dolphins. On the other hand ONVO L60 competes with the Mona from Xpeng. Firefly competes with compact EUROPEAN automakers.

My thoughts: stop wasting resources on high end cars few will buy, sell some damn cars, improve marketing & social media to raise awareness about Nio/Onvo, and curb costs to move closer to profitability.

It’s hard to curb costs or wasting resources as you say if you’re developing a chinese luxury brand. A decade ago, no one would equate China with luxury and yet NIO is proving everyone wrong. It’s very difficult to create a luxury brand and increase brand awareness from scratch. R&D spending and NIO houses, along with brand marketing needs to be maintained at high level in order to increase awareness of NIO various brands. NIO is creating something for a long run and it takes time. I think NIO is making all the right moves and the investment thesis is intact. We are too early in the investment cycle and have been disappointed with current market valuation.

Now that they have an ET9 they should reduce leg space on the ET7 and increase trunk space and make it a hatchback like the model S. So it become more or a practical saloon.

Styling of car seems a bit too niche as an the introduction to the brand. Perhaps should have gone with something that would be more universally accepted since this price point is meant to be truly mass market. The fact that it doesn't take advantage of the existing nio battery swap infrastructure for a car theyd be happy to sell 5k units per month just doesn't make sense.

I was pretty disappointed with Nio day as an event for car owners. It was super crowded, 90% of the stalls were selling junk or had massive queues. The show was way too long, especially as they encouraged a lot of people to get in a couple of hours before the main event where nothing really happened. Then the et9 presentation was way too long, it should have been more like the firefly presentation. The et9 looks good and that’s a lot of car for the money. Initially the firefly looked really ugly and a lot of people in the audience were commenting on how bad it looked but the more I look at it, it’s starting to grow on me. I don’t think I would bother with Nio day again though unless it was somewhere nearby or in a more tourist city which I would want to visit anyway.

After watching nio day 2024, now I should worry about the investment I keep or sell it. The Firefly is looks so ugly. What is the point of 6 light infront as well back of the car? The light symetric looks similar to iPhone 16 pro. Since nio is targeting premium high end car, this design just looks so cheap. Looks like the employee doesn't tell the truth to their boss now 😢

Do you know that Tesla was at a loss for 8 years after its establishment? the stock price reflect sales?
