Fantastic to see this! Much better late than never, and I'd already come to terms with not hearing from you til you got the urge to rave about another horror, so this was a wonderful surprise. Talking of surprises, I didn't expect 3 by 3 to be a controversial favourite at all - sure, we lose the bus episode, but what a replacement. Just the right amount of misdirection - even watching it past the fact on iPlayer I was half convinced I'd got the wrong program at first, and even when I was sure it's Steve and Reece at work I was eying Quiztopher Bigwins much more suspiciously than the Oakwoods. It's such a cliché, but it really does work on so many levels - completely agree on that ranking! I'm so excited to see what the mad geniuses are pulling out for the final season. Here's to one last wild ride! And hopefully there's at least one more bone themed episode - I'm sure Zorro would love the treat.

I understand they have limited budgets and time but the noticable CGI on the mothers head exploding reduced the impact for me as I was thinking about the CGI rather than what I thought was a great ending to a great episode that was funny and intriguing. If that was done better which unfortunately was out of anyone's hands, well except for the producers, production company and BBC it would be top for the season for me as well.

Great to hear you back. For me series 8 ranks like this: 6. Love is a Stranger: Not only did I fall into the camp of fans who saw the twist coming, In general I found this episode difficult to watch due to it's pacing and some odd creative decisions. 5. Fear of Friday the 13th: The final shot was hilarious, the rest tone wise wasn't for me otherwise. 4. The Last Weekend: It's a episode that's definitely good and the twist is well foreshadowed, however I feel that the plan of Steve's character is too convoluted and contradictory, Reece is apparently so terrible that he deserves such a horrible fate, but kind and selfless enough to waste nine years looking after someone, so sadly loses me. 3/2. Bones of Saint Nick and Mother's Ruin: Solid No.9 episodes, nothing we haven't seen before but twisted fun none the less. 1. 3 by 3: love this one though I regret completely missing the whole Hold on Tight prank, so I can understand why others may dislike this one.

Happy to finally be seeing this, and since there's no real opportune moment to share this in the future, consider the follow theory: The "devil" in How Do You Plead? is a physical manifestation of the hare, or as I call him, Nine. Not only does his his hair color match the statuette, but he knew where Webster was hiding, which was in plain view of the wardrobe Bedford left open, which is exactly where the episode's hare is. Not to mention the line "I can't be everywhere at once, but I try." Which feels almost too fitting for the hare to be a coincidence. When you combine this with things like the hare appearing in a glitch at the end of 3 by 3, you can't help but wonder just how many supernatural happenings in the show he's behind. I could easily see the "church" that Michelle and the Molochs are a part of in The Harrowing, as well as the village cult in Mr. King, being forms of some 'Cult of Nine', it would explain why the statuette is mass produced and how he ended up on the shampoo bottle's label.
@WeeLin4 ай бұрын
I love this - I keep wondering about the hare in every episode and what it might "mean". Did someone make a wish, who was it and how did it go wrong? That *might* be the plan for a future video, and I may want to visit this (which is really well thought out, thanks for sharing!) along with other fan theories on the hare.

It starts in two days actually - I recorded the script in April and didn't have time to edit the video until the weekend! I'm looking for ideas for when the show ends (got a few things in mind already), so I'm always happy to hear suggestions.
@LeightonCorcoran4 ай бұрын
@@WeeLin shite! Well that's what I'll be watching in two days lol. I Don't really have any suggestions myself. You've probably covered League Of Gentlemen & Psychoville plenty enough. There's probably other dark comedy shows you could talk about...though nothing contemporary that I can think of. One such show (dark comedy, though pretty old) I saw for the first time in recent years is Jam. Now that's pretty messed up....

Wahey! She's back! Personally I loved 'Love is a Stranger' and 'The Last Weekend'. While the first on was a bit predictable, the performances were great. The Last Weekend had a wonderful ending, not to mention the awesome 'Blue Jeans Baby' - what an earworm!!!

Sorry to hear you've had a hard year. I certainly know what that's like. Take care. My friend who got me into LOG & IN9 will hopefully go see the stage show but I probably wont. Not as big a fan of this show as I once was. I feel like LOG/IN9 etc. was very much a lockdown coping, um, thing. I'll still watch S9 though, starts in 2 days! an interesting choice of winners indeed. Thanks for reminding me of some of the content of last series. When I see Lee Mack on 1% Club, it does make me think 3x3 a bit!

@@WeeLin Your welcome :) its always good to watch your videos and get a chance to re-analyse the shows, your good at picking up on small details and questioning things I may not initially notice. I'll look forward to your analysis of the upcoming final series. I'm limiting the amount of very dark comedy I watch nowadays - sadly, needs must! have you seen the TV show 'Evil'? shown on Alibi channel. I still watch that, its only on now & again. Good premise though and the Dutch actress made a pretty decent dark comedy called The Columnist a few years back. Thats well worth a watch if you havent seen it. I saw 'Poor Things' on Disney+ a couple of months back. That was more bonkers than creepy/scary I'd say though! anyway, yeah... take care (apologies if this comment appears twice - looks like YT didn't post it the first time I pressed reply? it disappeared?! thank God for copying to clipboard just in case! technology, smh *shuts up*)

Great vid as always, am pretty sure 2:22s coming to my city, cos I keep see posters for on the bus into town (or I've just missed in which case I'll kick myself) and I love a theatre visit so will definitely be checking that out (as well as IN9 stage fright which I'm VERY excited for). As fas as my recommendations for number 9 like media goes I'd recommend Robert Shearmans short story collection "We All Hear Stories in the Dark" its pretty dense (3 whole volumes and 101 stories dense, but all the stories are generally short enough to be finished in 1 sitting) but some of the stories feel very number 9 in their dark humour, horror and occasional left turns into outright weirdness, all very interesting though (although one or two have lost me) I've been slowly working my through them between other books for just over a year and a half and am just about halfway through (like I said dense) and can highly recommend, even if you only read a couple.
@WeeLin4 ай бұрын
Thanks for that - I've been meaning to get into more short stories, so that's going on my reading list. See 2:22 if you can - it feels very much like a No 9!

Great to have you back! Here's a fun question: if you could see Shearsmith and Pemberton given a blank cheque to make any new project, what would you like to see them make?
@WeeLin4 ай бұрын
Ooh, that's a good question. Maybe let them make another movie? I know the League movie was a bit divisive/weird, but I enjoyed it, I'm glad they got to make it and I'd love to see what they'd do now. Part of me would love for them to make a video game, probably some kind of narrative driven horror, but I don't think that's their bag!
