The first movie that comes to mind about mental illness or mental health is the 1975 classic 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' (starring Jack Nicholson). However, I would argue that the best exploration of mental health in cinema was depicted in 'A Beautiful Mind' (2001). Russel Crowe's performance as mathematician and Nobel Laureate John Nash is probably one of his best. The film grossed over $300 million and won four Academy Awards. Another film which explores the topic of mental health well is 'Silver Linings Playbook' (2012) starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Keen observers may have noticed the emphasis here is on 'mental health' (as opposed to mental illness). It is much the same as talking about an impairment instead of a disability. The emphasis is on the positive instead of the negative. That's all for with this week's contribution from Dr Leanne ;-) Keep up the great reviews Cinema Effects team!

Thanks for the shoutout with your poll selection Zac (and Jayden's little bribe). Would've loved to see how "embarrassment" handled that in the little control room up there when you revealed your pick 😂
