thats so ridiculous!! im so glad you shared because I had a similar experience where they were absolutely clueless. i had to sit down and an elderly woman just coldly and aggressively interrogated me about my life story and all the unhappy events I had and was so ignorant to the seriousness of certain events like exams (I care a lot about academics and put in a lot of time and effort into my GCSEs and came out with the best grades in my school and restriction as my coping mechanism) and she was like... so mocks?what exams? they don't really matter do they? most of the session I was balling tears and shed say something which would only make me cry harder from how unhelpful it was like me needing to gain weight and saying the rate at which I should while I was gaining faster and more than her stated amounts. Ending the session with looking to book the next one (which would have also been far more expensive), getting her diary out and saying all the times SHE was available while I had college and wouldn't allow the next appointment to be further than within the next week (me being in college while she was free). never had another session after she said to call back to book the next appointment - as if id be willing to drive an hour to be traumatized by her again.

Oh my goodness!! Firstly, thank you so much for sharing this xx Secondly, I'm so sorry you had to go through such an awful experience like this, you definitely did not deserve that and having an Ed as a coping mechanism for exams is COMPLETELY valid. I hate how it's almost 'normal' that most people have an appointment like this in their life.

I am actually speechless. I swear doctors these days don’t understand that the comments they make can be detrimental and offensive!!! They off all people need to watch what they say
