The funny thing is there's still a story that makes sense, even though you don't see the emotions. There's a girl named Riley who grows up with her parents. They move to a new city. She doesn't fit in at school, because she's new, and gets into an argument with her parents, causing her to storm off into her room. She misses a goal in hockey, making her angry, and wanting to leave. She has a nightmare later that night, giving her the idea to go back to her hometown. She eventually realizes her mistake, and reunites with her parents, in tears because she misses home. Her parents agree, and says they miss home too. The best part is this makes a perfect story, and it would make a perfect Pixar short film.

I think the dad was a little quick to get angry with her when she was upset at dinner. He knew full well she would likely struggle in a new environment, especially at her age, and could've tried to ask her then what it was she needed. Of course, the fact that he didn't, makes it more realistic and shows that parents aren't perfect. Better still since they made sure to really talk it out with her in the end.

I'm not sure if this was what the writers implied. (Because frankly speaking I'm really kinda slow. 💀) But I always feel like the person themselves have some slight control over their emotions in their head. That's why throughout the movie, Sadness gets this strange urge to touch the core memories and has the power to change it suddenly. And then when Joy and Sadness are sucked out of HQ and Anger takes over, it's like their way of showing how being unable to express your Sadness, will make you end up expressing Anger in the end.

The way that inside out portrays that moment of realization is beautiful throughout the movie Everything is so bright showing her positiveity through life and building up to the moment she runns away the colors grow increasingly more dull showing how she feels dull and depressed but after she realized it wasn't right to run away(when sadness came back) the colors brightened back up again because she remembers her parents and she knows they care (It also shows in her face just before she leaves)

Rewatching this hit really hard as someone who went through the same thing (minus the calm parents and no language barrier part) as riley and at about the same age too. Back when the movie came out I hadn't moved yet and I didn't remember what the movie was about up until now since It's been quite literally 9 years since it came out...

Honestly after watching the 2nd movie as well i love how understanding and paitient Rileys parents are

One problem I had watching inside out 2 was that I tend to empathize more with the emotions than with Riley herself, which made me see Riley more as a robot that was being controlled by her emotions. This video helps me see her more as a human

God, I cried like a baby.... inside out is really something deep and my favorite movie. Thank you Pixar, Riley, Riley's emotions and Riley's parents I fell huged, a warm hug

When I first saw this movie, it really resounded with me. I was 11 years old when my family and I moved across the country. Everything Rylie experienced I experienced as well. New school, not fitting in, getting into a state of depression. Movie really hit home. Still one of my favorites.

Please do this for the second movie! It is fantastic and has more screen time in the real world.

12:58 before she bumps into the guy, She smiled even when she felt embarrassed. Our parents do something that we think it’s embarrassing, but it shows that they care enough not to care about the world around them, but focus on their child. We would need more parents like this. Not perfect parents, But ones that would love you without a second thought.

It's incredible how the film seems much deeper this way, it would be an interesting idea for Disney or Pixar to make a film like this, without magic or fantasy things, just a normal person dealing with the changes and challenges of life

When I see it this way. I can see how Happiness was damaging Riley. She had always been putting a happy face for everything. Dad: “Where’s my happy girl” Mom: “Well you’ve stayed a happy girl...” She never communicated that she wasn’t well so she never received the attention she needed from her parents. And she allowed to be sucked up by her emotions to the point she couldn’t care less about her wellbeing.

After watching the second film i wondered what it would be like to watch the film without the emotions scenes, just Riley. And that's how this video magically appeared on youtube.
