I saw an interview with Peter Brock where he said they brought in the VK in mid 1984. They then changed to Group A for 1985. That means these VK big Bangers were only raced for 6 months.

"This is a road car that's been modified to race!" Exactly, which is why the racing back then was so watchable and entertaining. Unlike today. With these cookie cutter Mustang/Camaro clones running around the track. Bathurst 2024 was like watching paint dry. I miss the days of real touring cars! 😥

It was .05 in Victoria. I was a kid but can remember it pretty vividly. casr.adelaide.edu.au/T95/paper/s29p1.html#:~:text=Since%20its%20introduction%20in%201976,be%20in%20excess%20of%200.05%25. Think I can recall Brock promoting it too. There was a red winged logo saying 'Stay under 05'. I think that might have been displayed pretty prominently on Brocks car (as stated in the clip).
@weareleeds9873 жыл бұрын
Not in Victoria it wasn't. Since the 1970's it has always been .05% as far as I am aware. Before that, I remember blowing in the bag and the crystals turning green, which meant that the car was locked up at the side of the road, and I had to find another way to get home. I was only 300 metres away from home and was allowed to drive the car the next morning after picking up the keys from the local police station. There was no way a copper could tell how high the blood/breath - alcohol percentage was and no conviction was ever recorded. Oh the good old days!!

You are wrong . In Victoria it was .05. Brock did a lot of Road Safety talks in his early days & adopted the number for cars he drove. I believe other states may have had different limits in those days . I knew a couple of people who did lose their licences . No sympathy even back then.
