First, I thought of an impro as a demo. The applauses spoke of a congress of some sort, not of a mass. Actually, the organist is playing the Passacaglia in d minor by Max Reger, a composer you’d seldom hear in France (too dark, in a way). The scariest part comes from ignorance, here. The title above should also mention the “scary” sound recording, including the visitors comments.

Not scary at all, rather magnificent!

Why scary? It is rather greater than life, monumantal!

Rouen organ is one of the top organs in the world, Lisa.

Not this one ! This organ is now mute and to be renovated, at last. You’re mistaken with the fabulous four manuals Cavaillé-Coll organ at Saint-Ouen Abbey, a few blocks away from this cathedral.
