I never met Lucy in person, but in every interview I have ever watched of her, especially those with an audience, you could just see how grateful and humbled she was at the audiences happiness, enthusiasm and applause!! And she was always so gracious and graceful when she wasn't acting a part, that was supposed to portray otherwise!!! It will always be a blessing to have had her touch our world!!!

My Norwegian grandmother was a stewardess for American Airlines and she had Lucille Ball on one of her flights. She said she was so down to earth and helpful. At lunchtime another passengers baby was very colicky and disturbing others trying to partake in a relaxing meal. Lucille stepped up to the plate and offered to hold the babe. She soothed the little darling to slumberland. I always remember this sweet act of kindness told to me as a child. Not only do I admire her acting abilities but her humble heart for others has inspired me to the core. I will always love Lucy madly.

Julie Rodabaugh Lucy must have been a very frequent flier, I can relate at least a dozen stories concerning Lucy and cabin crews that were far different than that of your "Norwegian" granny. One such FA was my wife who was one of three FAs insulted and screamed at by Lucy. An incident that match so many occasions related in the books written about Lucy, including one written by her daughter. BTW- We are Norwegian, what does that have to do with anything? Lucy is the number #1 worst airline celebrity passenger according to many many FAs. The best celebrity passenger? Joan Rivers

Wow. So watching this really brought up memories. Especially when she said it was like losing a member of the family. That's exactly how I felt. I was 7 years old the day she died and at school when my mom heard on the news. She said she started praying no one would tell me there because she knew I would be devastated. When I got home she told me, and I cried for days. I watched Lucy everyday. She was my idol. I now have two beautiful drawings of Desi and Lucy in my home. They are my pride and joy.

Lucy was before my time, heck, her children were before my time lol, but, for some reason, from the moment I 1st watched her on I Love Lucy, there was something that drew me to her. As a kid, she reminded me of my Mother, her & my Mom, dead on, looked so much alike, so maybe that was it, but all I know is they broke the mold after Lucy & there's not been another since, she's in a league all her own. Since, as an adult, I know the Lucy she was before the I Love Lucy show, what a gal! RIP my look alike Mom-I LOVE Lucy!

I've used Lucille as an avatar for over a decade. I look nothing like Lucy, but her red hair reminds me of my Grandmother's; the names "Lucille" and "Lucy" conjures the immediate thought of class, style, beauty, talent and grace. Even as a child when watching "I Love Lucy" I remember thinking how well she was always dressed, she made her beautiful clothing look even better with her posture! Lucille, Betty White and Carol Burnett are three ladies that will always be in my heart.

I loved Lucy. My Mom and Grandmother reminded me of Lucy and Ethel. My Mom always came up with hair brained schemes to make extra money as there was 6 kids so we could have a swim pass, go on vacation, etc. Some of them were hilarious. Like making peach jam but they were fermented and well, they were drunk as skunks. I miss all of them so much.

Gale Gordon mentioned how stardom never went to Lucy's head. that a person did not have to genuflect in her presence. I personally know how true that is. In 1962 or 1963. I went on high school spring break with my parents to LA. We would get maps and drive around to see the stars homes. My parents actually parked the car on Lucille Ball's Street and I was able to get out and walk past her house. Lucille Ball drove out her driveway right when I got to the driveway. I will never forget she stopped and roll down her window, and I asked her for her autograph. She gave that to me gladly and then proceeded to tell me to be very careful as her street was very busy. She very easily could have totally ignored me. She made my day and I have yet to forget that. She is my all-time favorite actress. We will always love you Lucy.
