I live in Arkansas and I am a high school football and basketball official. I love high school football Friday nights here in Arkansas. BUT- Texas high school football is on a whole other level. I am going on a different direction here... I find this kind of money waste insulting to the hard working people of Texas. Spending all of this money on football fields when many of our State schools are physically and literally falling apart is a disgrace. I understand each one of these districts are independent and they survive mostly by the tax money from their homeowners in each district.. but having enough money to waste on these fields and complexes while other districts are barely keeping their lights on and infrastructure functional, well, it is a real shame. It is a public system and as such ALL of the public schools should have the bare minimum to have a decent and comfortable environment for the children to learn. Teacher salaries are very low here in Texas and often times teachers have to purchase teaching material out of their own pocket for their classes... that is unacceptable, I don't care if your district is poor or not.. that should NOT happen. Anyway, this is just another example of how our society's priority are all upside down. I know I will get attacked by my point of view and I respect your opinion regardless.

Texas has one of the highest graduation rates as of recent and school districts don’t just build these stadiums when they want too. It’s voted by the school board & the people living in the school district. The community wanted this stadium. And he said in the video that Alvin just opened up a brand new school so their definitely putting money in other places other than their athletic programs

@@domo5353 the high school I went to did the same. Had a brand new stadium, but also came with a new high school building as well as renovations for the other 3 schools in the district. Hell, they pay players. I remember the kid whose Dad got a new job and they moved to our town in the summer between his freshman and sophomore season. Now, was it a direct payment? No, but you can’t blame the family for taking it. And he moved to a five A team where he was guaranteed to be seen by the college scouts. Your videos highlight the reality for most families... I mean the stupid outrageous cost of the damn university system. Student debt is at a trillion they say and you have videos where useless things like sports get untold millions? I went to JMU... as did my daughter... they charged students a 2300 activity fee which went to fund the football team. Yeah... some of these schools have millions in alumni donations... but those cannot possible cover this level of spending.. The students 99 percent who don't play sports or get scholarships and their parents get to fund this crap.

If we assume that at least half of the field was built with donations and that the school has a population of about 2000 students, that would still mean that over the course of 20 years that about $500 is being taken away from the education of each student for each of those years. Let's hope for the sake of the students that much more than half of this stadium was funded with donations instead of public investment. These independent school districts in TX worry me a bit, because they are being forced to compete with other schools and sadly that seems to mean that there is a huge incentive to spend loads of dollars on campuses/spots/amenities instead of education quality - similar to our out of control college education system.

Very true, but I’m guessing they have oil donors (Texas) with some extremely deep pockets. If former players’ and oil execs’ kids are going there, it’s safe to assume that the education is pretty good too. However, this probably can’t be said about every TX high school

@@jamaicanjuice8684 thanks for letting me know, and I appreciate your insight, though I’ve spent time in Texas and it’s very clear that not nearly every school has the same funding. Now that you say that four schools use the stadium, it is safe to assume they all have very good funding. Use of a stadium isn’t cheap, no matter if there is a referendum for local schools or not. Although the law may say that it’s all good, the reality is very likely different. Were you just copy and pasting what you were looking up, or did you mean to put the ellipses at the end and cut your sentence off? I love football, but this is too much and out of control for a bunch of high school kids just to play a game that used to be played in cow pastures. Society needs to wake up. This money could be spent on so many other great needs, OR better yet let the tax payers keep some of "THEIR" money and spend it the way they what too.
