Inside The $300,000 Cessna 337 Super Skymaster Plane
This is the Cessna 337 Super Skymaster, one of the most unique aircraft in aviation history. Renowned for its unique centerline thrust twin-engine and push-pull configuration, it stands out in the general aviation sector for its distinctive engineering and performance characteristics. The Cessna 337 Super Skymaster's engine setup, involving one engine in the nose and another in the rear fuselage, eliminates the conventional issues related to asymmetric thrust that are common in traditional twin-engine aircraft, an innovative design makes the Cessna 337 Super Skymaster particularly appealing to aviation enthusiasts and pilots who appreciate the combination of safety and performance.
The base purchase price for a new Cessna 337 Super Skymaster was about $50,000 before options back when it was launched, but today prices for a pre-owned model range between $100,000 and $350,000, and while the annual fixed cost is estimated at $20,000 to $30,000, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $200 to $300.
Here is everything you need to know about the Cessna 337 Super Skymaster.

I worked for a large Cessna dealer in Wichita,Kansas for 22 years. There were only two customers who brought these in for maintenance. They were not fun to work on,especially the pressurized model, that was not mentioned here. The rear engine was easier to work on.One of our customers stopped bringing his in,he thought $50 per hour for maintenance was too high,so he used a shop that was cheaper, and didn't have much experience with them.He also ignored the TBO on the engines. He was a volunteer for Angel flights, and one day was taking a husband and wife to a cancer hospital in in Houston,Texas, picking the couple up in Coffeeville,Kansas. On take off,he lost an engine causing the aircraft to fall from the sky, pancaking onto the runway. The aircraft burst into flames, kiling the pilot/owner,and the two passengers.Very sad thing for sure.

You can't put a price on maintenance. Airplanes need proper repairs.

Wow, 50 bucks a hour is a deal compared to mechanics that worked on semis. A mom and pop charged around 100 to 125 an hour. Dealership charge around 235 to 275 or more an hour depending on the region. God rest their soul, but the pilot didn't have any reason owning a plane if he couldn't afford 50 bucks an hour.

@@MrEwciii2001 I wasn’t in the Air Force but in another branch of the security forces. I don’t believe they were phosphorus (marker) rockets but explosive unguided rockets probably similar to ‘Zuni’ American rockets.

23rd TASS ( "Nail" Fac) NKP Thailand RTAFB 🇹🇭 70,71. The hard points on the wing could carry an assortment of ordnance. Ie phosphorus, smoke, HE rockets. And, as a "Bullshit bomber" could carry pa systems and cannister for leftlet dropping. Gray or flat black. Great times!!!

This is the best way to get a Multi engine rating to owning a 337

As a MEI that owns a 337, I think that’s just stupid. Use a conventional twin to obtain a multi engine rating.
